Hi bhw fam,

So the thread is quite self explanatory, what is a moment in your life that changed everything? and was it for the good or bad?

Have been thinking about this a lot recently because my life has taken such a huge shift in the past 5-10 years from the moment my family decided to move to Greece so I thought it would be really interesting to hear events/decisions that completely changed other peoples lives.

For me, I went from living comfortably, partying, not a care in the world, working out daily... to stress, lack of social activities, a better understanding of how hard life can be, understanding that no one is gonna make my dreams for me etc (a complete turn in my mindset and idea of life).... TBH I am actually really happy I moved to Greece because if I didnt then I would not understand how much effort you need to give to change your life or how fortunate I was to grow up with so many opportunities and tools to succeed (which I definitely took for granted back then).

So what event in your life changed everything?

When I found out I was a cold-hearted bitch
i dunno what to do with myself now :(
@UnusualSubstance Come put your girl in her place please bro
Becoming a dad was life changing definitely.
Yeah I couldn't imagine the day..... What would you say is the biggest thing that changed in your life after having your first kid? Sleep schedule for sure haha...

Each and every major life contributed to the one I am now.
And, in a few words, I can define what I am now: A learner.
I am intrigued and in the same time amazed by what the Life is.
What will be tomorrow? I don't fckn care: I expect for the best!
I feel the same but IDK recently I just have been fearing a lot for the future of people really close to me, especially my family (there is 7 of us) and idk I guess I am at that age where you start stressing a lot and overthinking... I need to chill but yeah love your mental bro thats the way I try to see it as well, keep learning and experiencing new things living day by day.
The moment I finished this beer completely changed everything for me
Must of been a really deep moment bro I feel that.

Exactly! Some of us out here going through a midlife crisis be nice. Haha but nice, proud of you and all your hard work shows.

I can interpret your question in 2 ways, and both are correct:

1) my life had always been linear, in the sense that I've never had major events, happy or unhappy, in anything (I've never won the lottery, I've never known love at first sight, I've never had big pleasant surprises, I've never attended a live match or concert of my favorite musical bands or sports team, I've never received valuable gifts, I've never had any MAJOR happy or unhappy event of any kind EVER)

2) these being said (and analyzing my life in retrospect), I did have small events, both happy and unhappy, almost every day of my life that have not affected me deeply in the short term, but - when taken together - have affected me over the long term. Even today (and over the last 5-10 years) I keep stumbling upon both happy and unhappy (well, unhappy most of the time due to the nature of the world we live in today mostly) events almost daily that shape my being and my understanding of life in general, and of people in particular.

I won't mention the small things that have happened over my 45 years of existence because there are too many to list them all, but what I can say, however, is that one of the most important moments for me (which had shaped my understanding of this world and which is also responsible to a high degree for my way of thinking) is the fact that my mother had introduced me to one of her favorite writers (back then) when I have started being depressed and not give a fuck about anyone and anything from this world, anymore.

At that point, I have stumbled upon the books of an ex secret service Romanian writer (Pavel Corut for those who know him), and I've binged his entire collection (120+ books) in a few short years... I would manage to absorb like a sponge everything he's had to say in each new book in about 4-7 hours (it had depended on that book's thickness), that much I have been immersed into those books and I have absorbed so much knowledge from them that even today (the guy had been murdered 2-ish years ago) - were he to come back to life and write another book, 200 long pages if needs be - I think I'd still finish it within hours :D

I feel like this had been the turning point in my life, because - had I not been introduced to that dude's books - I would have probably ended up killing myself, or maybe I would have been thrown into the streets or something... I have been in really deplorable states in my life... even today I'm not fully cured and I still have my moments of lunacy (or what resembles to lunacy to me), but those books have given me a new, and accurate perspective on life that I would have not gotten from anywhere else, and they've helped me understand humans better, and where most of our problems come from...

Anyway, sorry for the long rant, but you asked so I had to answer, I couldn't help myself :p

later on in life, when you do pull yourself out of that mud

then again
maybe i'm just too old, since instead of being honest, people rather baby & enable them nowadays

Bro, fear is not good. On any path, any ideology, anything: Fear is useless. Fear is sent by your enemy part, not by your friend part.

Few weeks ago I had a hard moment, which almost put me down (almost, but not, because I'm a fck winner: AND NOW I AM BACK TO THE TOP). In fact I faced more things, in the same time (those, let's call them strikes) - you know the saying: When they comes, they comes in packs. But ... It was what it was, and now the fresh air is back. I learned a lot about it and I am very happy I faced it. So, whenever you're feeling now, watch the perspective and not the perception. Follow your path through the light of the ending of the tunnel. Per aspera ad astra!
