Just look at all the complaints on Google as employer. With the lack of real competition and a pushing management they can be arrogant.

I think thats the best idea right now to be left frustrated by all this nonsense google keep adoptingSo instead creating one site, create 5 sites and do 5 different strategies
1 More White Hat one
2 More blackhat (think vantablackhat)
3 Crappy content one
4 Spun content one
5 Kinda regular one
That's the solution to be always on first page
With every update you will have some sites up and some down

A site that was punished last year and only survived thanks to twitter traffic, after a monstrous GSA spam blast a couple of days ago, now is ranking #2 on a difficult keyword.
It seems the algorithm got so complicate not even Google creators understand it anymore.

Well, not really. I analyzed my sites/my customer sites/my partners/friends sites. Around ~80 sites all in one.
My conclusion:
- EDM domains are back on track, whoever says EDM doesn't rank, think/check again.
- Spam/generated content ranks even in the featured snippets with 0 RD and low overall domain profile.
- Content length doesn't mean anything. Two hundred words content outrank 1500-300 words easily for the main keyword.
- Simple answers can rank in the featured snippet and can beat any type of content/infographic style structure.
- YouTube ranks higher in 50% of the cases just because it is Google property (what a brainstorming discovery)
- The number of total links doesn't mean anything
- Simple/stupid simple sites rank higher in Google
- Pointing from homepage 40-100 pages, it helps your site ranking (a mix of SILO+Cluster)
- 100% White Hat SEO is a myth; Google has no clue if you don't spam your site until it gets manual actions.
- Google shuffle rankings like a lousy DJ on this update.
- Plain text ranks better than structured content via bullets/number lists and many headings.
- They do this on purpose just to keep all of us in the loop, but, they just shuffle the settings and call it "core update". It may be wrong in 10-20% of the searches, but I see it in plenty of niches, so they want this chaos.
- Be prepared on the next update to roll back a version of Google 2012 because why not, be ready to fall or rank higher than ever.
- I bet after each update, businesses that depend on traffic spend like crazy on their ads just to be on track.
- I may be wrong, but that's my vision about this new update as it's officially finished.

I have a site that was ranking for a high volume keyword in featured snippets (formatted with Tables). We've had the snippet for years and it brought a crap load of traffic. This update had a site replace us out of no where. They weren't even on page one for the keywords, then they just stole it from us. Still tryna figure out how to get it back.

One thing that I keep noticing basically since the May update. The search result are less likely to relevant what I am looking for. For example I searched for the application of insulation foam. On the first page results at least two of them were unavailable - one had access denied (maybe the page removed or just locked, but no hint whatsoever on how to reach it) and the other one removed the content and not available.
A week or so ago I had a similar outcome with a Google search.
So just guessing, but seems that keyword spamming a site just works right.
Also checked now some stats with MOZ, but the PA / DA and link number for the first page result were mixed, there is no explanation on why Google thought that the results are relevant to my search.
