What has Elon Musk really done?

What has person X done? Compare that to person Y to see the difference.
Well... if we take me for example. I haven't done much, but then again I don't have a stock that's valued @ 880$. If your company is that hyped, you should've done more than just some PR stunts imo
Actually they might be revolutionary but they're all just ideas.

Zip2 is probably his only credible success so far.

He didnt start paypal
He didnt start tesla

SpaceX is nowhere near to what NASA has achieved. SpaceX's fastest rockets are slow as F***

Tesla. 500k cars sold in 2020. Like seriously?? The revenues dont match up according to the company's valuation

Neuralink is still just an idea. They're all just ideas. I can just start 10 companies and start hyping them up on the social media if I had billions for marketing.

I used to respect this guy until i realized these facts.

No matter what people think about Jeff bezos, Mark zuckerberg, Bill gates etc. But one thing is for sure. They all have actually achieved the success and fame that they have. Their success isnt based upon hype ir speculation.
You forgot hyperloop, which literally does 0 besides looking cool lol

He created paypal from scratch back in the days.
When it did not suck
Nope, paypal was created by Confinity who were founded in 1998, and had 4 founders. Later they merged with x.com which was created by Elon Musk and Greg Kouri.

Tesla stock will not crush. Yes, it is overvalued compared to other stocks, but Tesla is not like other companies.

Thinking that richest man in the world is conman? Really? I understand people don't like him, and that is fine, but thinking that he is somehow conman is just plain stupid.
Well... hyping the tesla car when in reality - the batteries are nothing new. Hyperloop - won't work. SpaceX - won't work (at least for now). Everything he has "done" are just visions. As others said - if I had a million dollar marketing budget I could also come up with cool things that don't work/are needed in reality.

It's just like Theranos, just a big concept that got valued @ 9 BILLION DOLLARS. Crazy shit...

You'll appreciate him when earth is destroyed, and we all escape to Elon's colony on mars...

Even Hyperloop wasn't his idea. Its based on prototypes from literally a century before.
He can repackage 100 year old ideas and sell them on and idiots will buy it.

Yup! Same with the Tesla batteries, there's literally nothing new. The better capacity is just because the batteries are bigger in size, not because they have better battery volume...

Well... I don't think he'll reach Mars. At least not before NASA.

LMAO

What has Elon Musk done other than revolutionize the automotive industry and send people and satellites into space? What a loser!

I would say he is a great marketer rather than a great revolutionary guy. No offense to him and people who follow him (Elon Musk) but to be honest I think, he is just selling dreams to us. This is what I am seeing, for now, I can't say what will happen in the future.

Look it up, he hasn't revolutionized anything besides making concepts into prototypes. Check out the cars, they're not that good besides it's good looks...

Agreed!

When the hype around Tesla finally dies the stock will crash, they barely sell any cars yet their market cap is higher than GM,Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen, Stellantis(Fiat and Peugeot owner merged) combined.
Volkswagen is already outselling tesla in mature EV markets, and all those companies are introducing lots of new EV models by 2025.

A few years ago, tesla was really the only EV option you could buy if you wanted an EV, now there are lots of options and even more coming in the next few years.

Tesla should be in the $25-50 billion market cap range not the $750-1,000 billion range.

Yes but the product as we know as paypal was xs product branded as paypal

Here is a cool infographic about Elon Musk life:
https://www.dailyinfographic.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/elon-musk.png
It looks like everyone here has a degree in engineering, and everybody could do the same thing as he did but somehow for some reasons they didn't. That is called excuses.

Sandy Munro is THE guy for car manufacturing engineering, and he bashed Tesla cars for bad quality 3 years ago. He is now amazed at how fast Tesla is improving their cars. He said it himself that Tesla technology is 3-10 years ahead from what he saw in other car makers. So should we trust some random guy from the internet or Sandy Munro? This is a guy that analyze cars for living, big companies are paying him 6 figures for a detailed reports and his opinion.

I will put my money on guys like Sandy Munro or Elon Musk.

I don't really care about Elon Musk or SpaceX, but comparing their results with NASA's results is... Let's say is funny.
Start with budgets, then compare years since in business, then think about how many errors NASA has made (because for NASA it was easy to fail, being sponsored by a whole nation and also being pioneers in the field, mistakes are easy to forgive if nobody has done that task before) and then think how hard it is for a private company.
As a private company, funds are pretty much limited, investors will sanction any error ( hence, you build something using safe things, not some cutting edge technologies that may fail), also take into account you'd have to compress decades of experience in few years.

Take into account all factors, then you can compare the rockets. If you want.

And there's many more dreamers than achievers which is why he is so successful.

You do know NASA gives SpaceX contracts worth billions of dollars, right? Then what's the difference between NASA and SpaceX? Besides one being private.
