Recently I have been working some websites. I not clear about this at all. When I post a content to my website, I put that content in two different categories because both are almost same.

Is this bad practice? Should I use only one category? What if I keep same content in two categories by single posting?

If your post belongs in two categories it shouldn't be a problem. Google is clever enough to understand that, also when using the Structure Data Highlighter they happily accept multiple categories per article/post.

yeh no problem there i do this frequently, sometimes you will have posts that can do that

Oh right. Ok it sounds good. Thanks

sorry, double posting

Exactly what I am thinking. But my question is that there is one unique link and unique page. So how can it be double posting? And robot index unique one. So How?

If you say about benefit, I will say if a traffic search in my one category, there is chance to see my post.

Bro. Robot "Can" index unique one, but does't have to... When the same article can be viewed by "yourwebiste.com /categoryX/article" and "yourwebiste.com /categoryY/article" this sound like duplicate content - I'm sorry :) Learn more about Duplicate Content. The same thing can be, when you have "tag" pages indexed.
Regards.

Sorry, I meant I posted in this thread twice.

The content isn't duplicated, it just adds an extra pointer to extra categories in the database. One post can be in as many categories as you like, and have as many tags as you like. You still only have one article.

As others have said this isn't a problem, especially in nav.

That's right, the perma-link is unique - you're just providing different pathways to that single link so it's not duplicate content.

The problem occurs more often in E-commerce sites where the link is auto generated and the product shows in multiple categories which leads to the same item having 2 different URL's.

No problem at all . I frequently do this . It never affect your site for SEO. Carry on .
