I was thinking about starting up myspace again, Just wondered whether it is a good wise to add a copy and paste link in there like domain(dot)com with the friend request message?

I wont suggest that. Better use bulletin for that.
Definitely dont put a link in the request... I generally check out what kind of people they have on the myspace and then say, hey, I see you are "random name"'s friend... I would love to chat with you and be friends as well.... It works better for me...
