What do you think on building a celebrity site?

Hi,

I am wondering if it is legal to buy a celebrity domain name, like firstnamelastname [dot] org
I am not sure if they can sue me for that or make me erase/delete the site.

I also thought of celebrity domain like that: firstnamelastna [dot] me OR lastnamefirstna [dot] me

Please share your thought.

There are already a ton on the market you would be hard press getting one to rank and make something from it.

But what do I know. That is just my 2 cents

That's a bit hard to expand as there's no set criteria on if and when your site will be taken down due to infringement.

However, off the top of my head, it could depend on how active their legal personnel is in bringing down sites such as yours.
Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't.

What I'm trying to say is you can't really predict if you and your site will be subjected to legal action or not. Especially not if you're a small timer. If they do decide to take you down, you won't stand a chance.

While registering such domains you will be asked for the identity and other proofs so you will not face any issue. Sometimes if the site will display any viral contents and will misuse the name then you will be notify or legal action can be taken.
