I am needing to expend and I am looking for virtual assistant. I have looked at a few companies and the service was crap.

So i wanted to see if anyone on here is using any and whats your feedback on the company.

Yes i know there is a listing in the service for sales section I have contacted them with no response.

    What I am looking for.

    1. An virtual assistant that will help keep things going around the office making sure customers submit paper work. get that info to the designers and so on. Just help keep the day to day deal going.

    2. Need a virtual assistant that can help do day to day seo work. Article writing and submission, setting up hub pages, and all that fun stuff and able to give me a report at the end of the day what they have done.

    3. I need 2 more designers. I need one that just does business card, letter head and logo and flyer designs and then i need another one that can design and code into a wordpress site.

    thanks for your help BHW

it doesnt matter who you hire or what you pay them. your main issue is going to be training english deficient people to do these things

depending on your ROI for the work, you might find it more profitable and less headache to just do it yourself

i had to go out to the philippines personally to get them working properly and break their waka-waka language. and it took me over a year of working over-time/grave yard shift/ 7 days a week/ no holidays to get em where i needed em.

now im sitting pretty like a plantation owner with his slaves efficiently working for nothing

That's the deal i don't have the time to do it myself that's why companies hire people.

I don't mind if i have to go and train anyone. I am just looking for the right people that if i give a list of task to be done they get done.

I have a full time staff here in Austin, but looking to set up an outsource staff and then test the two groups and see which one works out better.

I have a contact I was referred to via BHW, I just got an offer for a (WP Proficient) worker working 4hr days x5 days/week, for $250/mo. I don't quite need that much work yet, but it could be worth splitting, and/or referring you, though I have yet to personally do business with him, pm me if you want to negotiate/get in contact.

your going to have a real tough time, anyone who wasnt raised in a mainly english speaking country has the english understanding of a child.

they speak it but dont understand it, though they always say they do

college graduated in my experience has not made much difference either; my wife got a nursing degree, worked as a pharma rep for pfizer, and several call centers. when she speaks you get the impression shes fluent yet she dont understand anything i tell her beyond rub my feet.

have you tried searching around on odesk

    richelld,

That's a pretty ignorant assessment of foreign language speakers. My fiancee was born and raised in Russia, she speaks Mandarin Chinese and English fluently. Even taught English at the university level in Beijing for a few years. I have met countless people all over Asia that could speak English at native comprehension level. They learn more grammar/pronunciation rules than an average native English speaker ever takes the time to learn.

no not grammar/pronunciation, but the application of instruction.

european languages russian included are all similar enough to english in structural understanding. ex. "Do you want to work for this campaign?"

asian languages are the worst: i did a translation of what my philippino wife typed into skype in her waka-waka dialect (of that very sentence) and it came out:

    "Despite only please run."

Do you want to work for this campaign?" = "Despite only please run."

in fact, all of their educational instruction is in english because they don't even understand eachother talking their own language

I happen to know a lot of Philippine people and they have a perfect understanding of written instructions--I feel you are doing a whole nation a disservice here

I suggest you check John Reese Outsource Force before you pay money to anyone. There are many underwater rocks to avoid in outsourcing. Certainly helps to sort out the wannabees.

The Philippines, however, has lots of people whose English is excellent, so generalizations a'la "They all suck in English" are as fair as saying "All Americans weigh 300 pounds and only eat BigMacks." $250 per month is not likely to get you a virtual assistant with perfect English, think closer to $400-600, especially when an academic degree is required.

I thought of this due to the plantation reference, and it reminded me of a SP episode a few weeks ago. Where colleges call their slaves, student athletes.

Why not get college students to do work for you for free? Some students even pay for internships.

I know a great company who has their office in new york and their offshore office overseas so you can get the comfort to talk to someone here but the cost savings as going offshore

How much work would the designer be doing on a daily basis? I have a Filipino designer working for me writing a few articles. She would probably love to do some full-time design work, as that's what her degree is in. I'd be happy to pimp her out to you if the price was right.

over the past few months i have tried several different companies to bring on extra help.

I tried several designers - tend to take a week to do one site
SEO - they tend to just use the same sites that everyone else does

I gave detail info on what i wanted done for seo and not a one of the 12 different people that i hired could do what i asked.

Not sure if going with a VA is the way to go anymore. Was thinking it could help cut cost but in the long run now it has cost me more. got to love it.
