What categories you disabled in Adsense?

Hey everyone!

As I got a lot of adsense sites up, and I always change ad categories that are allowed before Christmas, because thats the time advertisers pump it, the most.

So I was wondering, what categories you blocked in the Blocking controls.

I limit tested on a few account, and for me, what worked the best is to leave only 3-5 categories that are somewhat related to the niche + gambling + drinking ads.

I had blocked few categories months ago and after reading your thread I went back once to my dashboard. I had blocked Alcohol and Gambling & Betting (18+) along with 2-3 more. But now I have enabled all categories except these two - Alcohol and Gambling & Betting (18+).

Why would you not enable the most paying categories ?

Yeah they are high paying indeed. But my sites are about health, wellness, mental health, healing and reiki, positivity, etc. Such ads do not compliment the content. So for better user experience we decided to block them.

Shall I rethink my strategy? What do you suggest?

Hly sht, you really care about users?

if google wouldn't mind, I would add 23 popup ad and 90 layer of double-click.

For me, my websites are 80% new users, like its so rare that someone just randomly decides to type in the domain and come back (who the hell does that for blogs, except for big news sites)

So my strategy is to get the most out of 1 user, because they are most likely to be there only once.
And most people does not even look the domain, so If my website is a little "too much ad" they will forget it the next time (like 2-3 weeks later) when they search for something that my sites appear for. People forget everything in 3 days, they won't remember your site by "what kind of ads" they seen there.

ha ha...I understand your point and I agree with you too.

But the thing is, our main money site also contains a segment that has a small but unique audience that is growing steadily. We collect emails and regularly send newsletters to them so it is a kind of closed community. The list is slowly expanding. We do not want to show some obscene ads or something that promotes gambling to them when our content is about the opposite. We are inviting them to our site ourselves via emails so it becomes important too.

I have many other sites where we should not worry about users and I can safely enable all the categories. So thank you for your thread to remind that. I will just go an enable them for other sites.
