When threads like these pop up on forums I always give the same answer "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron.
She was engaged to Martin Scorcese at one point and wrote this book as a 12-week course in creativity.
I read it for the first time 15 years ago and it did change my life and I still use the key technique in the book most days.
It is called the morning pages. Every morning as soon as you get up, using a pen and paper, you write 3 pages of stream of consciousness thoughts. YOU DO NOT PAUSE OR STOP WRITING UNTIL THE 3 PAGES ARE DONE.
This helps ideas flow, so you will probably write something like this "so then after work I will work on my website, and that's it, I'm not sure what to write now, what was that noise, oh it is just my neighbour, oh yes, that's right I have to install that new software later on too..."
Ideas like the new software will pop into your head and you will write them down, you will soon start to recognise these little ideas and actions you need to take. Write them on your to-do list and do them.
There is a whole lot more to the book, exercises on inspiring your creativity, on finances etc. But it is the morning pages that are most important.
I think this idea of morning pages is used in many areas nowadays such as productivity in industry/commerce but I think she popularised it.
