What are the most effective backlinks today?

You need a natural blend of links to achieve good results. If you just go for a load of one particular type of links, Google will detect this and stop you ranking one way or another....
 
The best backlinks are going to be any you can get from authority sites, especially those with a high pagerank. I'd strive to go quality of links over quantity. A small amount of good links will be worth more than a bunch of automated worthless links.
 
Typlo is so right, it's all about quality vs. quantity. Google and the other search engines are very wise to the tactics of spam link building and the recent update mid-october took a big hit on sites that ranked with crappy backlinks.
 
Is buildmyrank still effective today? Looks like it closed down.

Content and context links rule. Add PR and authority and you're on to a winner (remember to mix it up though - thousands of links on the same platform type is not a clever idea at all 30,000 WIKI blasts or 25,000 Bookmark blasts are not going to do most people's sites a lot of good at all)

I think links from guest blogging will be best. I know its a time consuming process but its results are just superb.
 
Authority backlinks are sure the best such as wiki links and article links. Choose the high pR ones if you are starting. Also dont forget to continue building backlinks once you started. Do not build backlinks then leave it as is. If your site is old - private blog network is the best.
 
I dont think you should buy it from fiverr. They are cheap but most of them are of low quality. As always, quality and diversified platforms are better. Whether its Wikis, blogpost, social network posts or blog commenting, you need to target each of them but it has to be done slowly over time and only quality one should be linked. It does not make sense to get a backlinks from a domains which are highly spammed specially when you have Google's Disavow Tool in place. Many webmasters are submitting these spammed domains to Google and i wont be surprised if google will use all links originating from such domains as bad links.
 
High PR backlinks, of more or less any form. It is important that you switch up the anchor text though, use some generic terms like "click here".
 
yeah thats waht i second...contextual link in a good unique article on a high pr low OBL page.

Thats why good guest posting works so well.
 
Russian footer links. They seem to be the "in thing" right now.

Great info Typlo. Also, it depends on the quality of content on your own website. Are the backlinks relevant to your content. I still like quality edu, gov and org backlinks.

Good question....i think using wiki and 2.0 is the better solution. truly, the best content of article will support it.
