Definitely this. There are so many opportunities out there, so many ways to make money, how do you decide what to focus on? With experience you learn what you're good at and what suits you but in the beginning it was definitely a problem.

I think one of the hardest things is scaling out. Once you have something working your first obstacle is not to be lazy and complacent. But get too many things going at once and you can become too distracted (or financially overextended if you are paying staff too).
I would agree on losing focus. There's just too much that takes away your focus with work and you get results that you probably aren't expecting like low stats, conversion etc. I lost focus and got disheartened with what happened.
What I did to fix this was to pull myself together and keep track of daily tasks, Goals for the week and what I want to achieve for the month in terms of sales, conversion, rankings etc.

Yes that's right! Focus is the hardest thing to manage esp. when you are working near your bed! lol. It's like its calling your name, inviting you to have a date with it.
Seriously, FOCUS is most IMers' problem i think. If you have all the time on your hands, you will do whatever you want, so there are lots of distractions. Your children wants to play with you, fetch them from school, your wife wants to go shopping with you, etc. It takes a lot and big big DISCIPLINE to succeed in IM.
But certainly DISCIPLINE pays off really really well.
