My site's ranking is going down like a piece of stone within few days but some days ago It was growing like a hybrid tree.

Is there any update or anything going on ? Did you notice anything Guys ?

24th & 25th sep I think google did something big . What's your opinion on this thread ?

You can check if google did something big by looking at the volatility of SERP, some tools such as Semrush Sensor offer this for free: https://www.semrush.com/sensor/?db=US&category=

Thanks Mate ❤ yeah I checked those there seems like high and very high VOLATILITY of SERP on Sep 24&25 ; Oct 2&3

Where were the ranks that you lost? E.g. was it top 1-3 in SERP that moved to 4-10 or was it 4-10 that moved to 11-20 ?

There could be many reasons, if you've moved from #2 to #4 on a keyword, there's not much you can do.

If you've moved from #7 to #21 for example, it's very likely that your article didn't match the search intent, this has happened a lot recently for articles fighting over e-commerce keywords with review content.

If you had a massive drop on all your content and paid for backlinks, it's possible that Google is penalizing your EAT score ... if you have low quality content it's also possible that Google got tired of your bounce rate and equally reduced your EAT score... it's difficult to tell without any details on content quality / backlinking / outreaching strategy / etc.

What have you been doing?

Have you been building links?

Have you been buying links?

How have you been internally linking to your content?

Are you publishing new content?

These are many of the fundamental questions you need to ask before you even start thinking of some sort of system-wide pattern.

A lot of people automatically think that if their rankings drop, then this means that everybody else's rankings have to go through a change.

9 times out of 10, the main reason why your rankings are dropping can be attributed to one of two things.

First, it's something that you're doing.

I know this is hard to swallow because a lot of people think that they're doing the right thing at the right time to produce the right effects.

And in many cases, they have a track record that supports their confidence.

The problem is just because things have been working out in the past doesn't automatically mean that things will continue to improve into the future.

You may be doing certain things that ultimately may be self-defeating.

So, look at what's going on from this perspective.

Are you sticking to Google's quality standards?

Are you looking to just come in with minimum standards?

Or, are you looking to truly deliver a superior visitor experience?

Sadly, the only person that can answer these honestly is you.

The second thing that could be going on is that even if you're doing things right, your competitors are doing things better.

Again, this is another bitter pill to swallow because a lot of people think that the search engine ranking game is very static.

They just think that they come in with a better equation or a better process.

Eventually, things will even out in the wash, and they will come out ahead.

If it only were that simple!

You have to understand that search engine optimization is like shooting at a moving target.

You're not just looking to improve your game, but you're also trying to keep ahead of your competitors who are equally trying to improve their game.

Do you see how this works?

Only after you have exhaustively asked and answered the questions above can you even start thinking about some sort of systemic change.

Personally, as far as my blog networks go, things are improving because I'm getting fewer random searches and are focused more on the sub-topics that I am actually targeting.

Other people's experiences may be different.

Just check the updates , plus It can happen by some crappy backlinks , check and disavow the links !

Hi guys!

I have the same issue... Oct 2 & 3 were the recond highs but for now I see the numbers of July, impressions are 50% down, around 50% keywords lost, of course traffic dropped. Situation is recovering very slowly and such volatility turned everything to hell as we cannot control anything and have no idea what to do or just to keep waiting when this "shake" is over.

There's no point asking such thing in a group, you'll get in-numerous impractical suggestions, instead focus on

1. Identifying Pages which are dropping
2. Learn if its due to rankings drop or is it due drop in no. of impressions
3. Check out what sites are on top now, and compare your content's value from KW intent perspective and work to improvise UX.
4. You also need to compare other technical aspects like page speed, link analysis, content length, CTAs etc.

SEO is an ongoing process, once you're on the top, you need to be aware of the possible threats from upcoming contents in your niche, and fix it before they challenge your position.

Thanks
Amit
