website or a store?

while trying to make a website for affiliating as the primary purpose i found out the idea of creating a store. so i wonder:
what are the differences between a general website and a store? which one is more suitable for affiliating?

please advise, thank you.

Always a review site would do better in my opinion for affiliate marketing.

a store is a general website but a general website is not a store. neither is better. only difference is store focuses on e-commerce.
are you doing amazon associates affiliate program? are you buying cheap widgets from china & selling for 1000% markup? are you selling a physical widget you created? go with store.
otherwise go for "general site". most bhw method threads revolve around general sites. you can do affiliate marketing with either.

i am doing affiliating, but it won't be a website full of only products, there will be some free articles, tips, DIY ... etc so i guess i will go with a general site, right?

yep. get you domain & host in order. upload wordpress. install a nice magazine theme [check bhw downloads section] and write your articles. put widgets up that contain newsletter subscription / banner ads like every single other 'general site' and bank.

for me, if you willing to play as affiliate marketer, just build general website like review site, coupon or some thing like that..
but if you want to sell as dropshiper build your own store and add your payment gateway..

for the start i will be focusing only on affiliating, so i guess i am going with a general website.

One is not better then the other. You can be successful with either if you know what you are doing.
