Web Hosting affects Ranking?

When I was on a budget, I started a lot of websites with Godaddy hosting and with Godaddy’s managed WP hosting, all projects went into vain.
Then I built a new website with a Cloud hosting, my keywords started ranking in serps. Since then, I started believing that we need a good hosting company because site speed is one among many factors of ranking a website. I didn’t apply any special strategy to the new website, it was same as earlier.

So none of the articles were ranking when you were on Godaddy's hosting?
And which cloud hosting u used and did you use the same domain that you were using with Godaddy hosting?

Not a single article ranked.
I used Vultr Cloud VPS, since it was cheaper. But you can choose anything (Digital ocean, G-Cloud, Vultr, Cloudways, AWS, Linode etc.)
There are many tutorials available on YT to setup a WP blog with cloud services. It was so technical that it took 5-6 hours to get everything up and running.
No I didn’t use the same donain, but I don’t think it would cause any problem to migrate your host from shared hosting to a cloud server.
It would be good practice to do so.

In my personal experience they are placing more emphasis on page experience and "core web vitals" these days.
Outside of an abnormally slow loading page, I would say things like layout shift and UI issues the bot perceived are taking precedence over just page speed — particularly for mobile traffic.

IF anyone's interested, GCP still offers one cloud VM for free every month.
It's a low end box with 256mb of ram, but it's enough for a starter website with 500-1,000UV/day. Especially if you cache everything. You can literally set a 1 year cache policy on your articles, visit them all in one go, and no more Wp processing after that.
I think they also still give out those $300 in free credits for newcomers.

the speed of a website is an important ranking factor. A dedicated and more performing hosting definitely helps to scale the SERP based on my experience

If your hosting is crappy (read, shared hosting)… Yepp. Not directly, but it will have really bad time to first byte, and be slow in general. Site performance should matter at the end of the day, not only for the search engines but for the users as well.

There another thing that you need to take into account.
Display ads. They considerably slow down your money pages/ranking pages.
So also take that into account when and how you will display the ads and which hosting will be best for you? If at all you gonna use display ads.

Even when my site started to pickup speed for fast loading, I had negligible effects on ranking as there are a lot of important factors google considers. Therefore, site speed alone won't do much.

It is one of the biggest factor affecting ranking as slow host will result in slow load time causing penalty.

Nobody can really say for sure, but in my experience it does. Most of the private hosting give similar results. Just stay away from free or shared hosting if you care about your site. Especially if google is your primary traffic source.

Site loading always matters. That is why people spend so much on making load faster.

Always use a good web host or otherwise your website will crash when high volume. It will cause penalty for ranking.
