Warnning! Dont use Adsterra! Malware infected network

To play devil's advocate here, I have used Adsterra in the past and was paid successfully via BTC.

However, I did notice that my users were reporting that Malwarebytes was blocking the website due to malware. The URL that Malwarebytes flagged was the Adsterra domain that was found in all the Adsterra ads placed on my site, which included banners and the social bar.

I contacted Adsterra and they changed the URL of the ads from I believe the default to something else. Over the next few days, the Malwarebytes warning disappeared.

If you are using Adsterra, check the URL of the ads at virustotal.com to see if any of the security networks flagged it. I think the default is totalbeppercause or something. That flags everything from a to z. So beware.

Now, even if the URL is safe, you should still be aware if you are using the pop, as they can still cause malware warnings. As stated above, use banners only.

I hope this helps.

thanks, I will stop using it then.

I placed Adsterra.com banner for my mobile visitors in my tube website.

It was very surprising since their CPM was much higher than exoclick, But they will redirect visitors randomly to their malware infected and fake antivirus page. They randomly open popunder, redirect or promote to install software for your visitors.

Running their ads will kill your website.

If you want to use them think twice as you will get banned by google and major web browsers, You will lose most of your visitors, Hopefully I found it soon before some major damage be done to my website
This is very disappointing. We are in 2022 now and this issue is still occurring. I have installed @AdsterraNetwork banners in my website and all my visitors have been reported being redirected to other sites the moment they go on my website, without even clicking on their banner. The worst part about it is that I couldn’t see that issue on my end so it was like they hide it from us developers so that we are not aware of it until someone makes a complaint about it. You’ll never know that their advertisers are high jacking your site just with their banners. With reading these comments this confirms my suspensions as all of you guys were not aware until someone reports the issues as it will never show on your end. I really wanted to work with them because the payout is good and the banners looked cool on my header and footer but the site highjacking is not cool. If they can fix the issue I’d definitely work with them.

There is nothing to fix cuz its not an issue. That's how they make money :poop:

I installed adsterra 4 days ago and I found out whenever I opened my website in incognito, my anti-virus was blocking malware from them. I immediately removed all their ad codes.

They were paying several times more than Ezoic, Valueimpression and I was thinking how? Now I know that. Don't use Adsterra. They are just malware which can kill your website.

Hey Sarfraz,
Wait a second your antivirus was blocking malware from browser? Its not possible, ads are just html5 css some javascript, now how on earth's job your virus would be intercepting data from website/browser, and telling you its malware Unless you have downloaded the content from the ads, malicious exe ?

Adsterra ads redirect to a site called "Spearspurink" and my anti-virus was constantly stopping this redirect. Even my Ezoic manager called me and shared the screenshot. There are also reports that Adsterra works with Spearspurink which is a known malvertising website.

Loved your blog though! I registered on value impression with your refferal link, even though they have not yet added my site yet.

Thanks for the good words. Remember that Valueimpression is good for peak advertising months, especially Q4. In the first quarter, I only use Ezoic because Valueimpression has a very low CPM at the start of the year.

Can anyone share the script that Adsterra providing for their malvertising?
Is it different from site to site, or do they provide the same script for all?

I deleted it today, it's true what you said, and now virus total says that the ads are malware (especially on popunders)

As of today their ads still redirect visitors to fake sites. DO NOT USE ADSTERRA.

removed their ads from my site and my traffic is going up 3x

Its their sneaky publisher's ads, not the network. Just report the ads, adsterra is good company.

I see a lot of complaints lately about Adsterra.
Should be careful with any advertising network you install their script.

Keep in mind, sometimes they can really have just bad partners who implies malicious scripting.

Stop defending Adsterra, they're a shitty network. Even though the ads themselves are not from them, they are still responsible on ensuring that they are malware-free, they're an incompetent if not a scam network.
