just a heads up to anyone using godaddy, they have completely stopped all email and ticket support recently, if u send them an email, u will get an auto responder message saying:
their support page just has help articles (that are mostly useless), that means unless u want to make long distance phone calls, there is no other way to contact them or get issues resolved.

that, along with the cancellation of all renewal coupons just seems to me like they have a new business agenda and customers (loyal) are not really a part of that.

in my situation, i was transferring some domains away from them (they're pricing is just not competitive anymore without their coupons) and had some domains with privacy set on them, instead of the transfer going through, they rejected it, stating it was
despite the administrative contact having already authorized it. in this case they are falsely acting as if they are the administrative contact (through their whois privacy option) and overriding the authorization. then if u try to contact them, there is no way to do so! seems like a unprofessional attempt to make it more difficult to move away from them, especially with the timing of the cancellation of coupons corresponding to the ceasing of what i would consider basic customer support for any online business (email).

hopefully this can save others some headaches and bottom line is, stay away from godaddy if u can, if u are moving, plan ahead to make sure if u have problems u have time to some how sort it out with ur new registrar and u wont end up having ur domain expired and losing money - and make sure u switch off privacy settings before doing any transfers ;)

I had to call them yesterday, was waiting for 20 minutes or so before I got through. Not ideal. It seems a lot of smaller companies provide better CS, so may drift away from Godaddy if it doesnt improve.

I dropped Godaddy 2 years ago and never looked back.

Also, that "support" they used to offer was as good as FAQ's and robots anyway. I felt sorry for their support staff : the Godaddy system forced them into being drones who couldn't actually help customers.

Thanks for sharing the news, OP, at least now it's official: Godaddy has joined the Google team of companies who take your money gladly but provide ZERO customer support afterwards.

from what i have found out that is only offered if they dont have more than 20 people on the live chat at once (unlikely with all their problems), if the number is over that, the button for live chat doesnt even show up on the page... also, i dont know for sure, but it doesnt seem to show up at all for countries outside the USA (has anyone ever seen the live support button?)

isn't it already like that for a few months now? I had an issue like 1 and a half months ago and it wasn't working back then. Used their live chat and it was pretty good. But had to wait like 45 minutes untill someone responded.

I doubt they will shutdown support completely. They might be limiting it for certain users depending on the services they have but a company killing all support would go out of business soon...

    So no change here, right?

Back when I was still using Gocrappy, their support was nonexistant anyway! I had to wait at least 3-4 days for any answers to my emails, and the whole "put your question into our shitty forum" thing sucked so badly...

PLUS their tech support had no idea what they were doing anyway... Simple question were re-directed to random internet tect forums etc

don't use them much, but had to call support a couple of days ago and got answered instantly and had my problem fixed very quickly and efficiently, and for about the first time I can ever remember with IT phone support, the guy listened to what I'd done, said "you obviously know what you're doing - we won't bother with all this" and skipped all the basic shit.

    Guess I just got lucky

I'll be moving my last few domains shortly, sorry to see that they gave you a hard time but it doesn't surprise me. These guys had the absolute worst customer service I've ever seen, I rented dedicated boxes from them at one point and had nothing but trouble. Their team didn't care at all about resolving with minimal downtime, they made mistakes with hardware configurations and forced me into an 8 hour "maintenance" window to resolve it. I requested a move to a new box to avoid as much downtime as possible and they simply refused, stating I would need to enter a new contract for that box if I wanted to avoid the hit to my properties.

GoDaddy filed for an IPO so I would imagine they are trying to streamline as much as possible because they have to open up their finances for investors.

As convenient as it is email is often not a very efficient way to resolve an issue as a lot of times it ends up with a lot of back and forth whereas you can generally resolve an issue with one phone call.

Not sure why anyone would use Godaddy since they steal domain names all the time.
