We've had several SL threads lately where members have been offering their services via PM and then asking for payment in btc or suggesting escrow services provided by another member.

If you have had a conversation like this REPORT IT. DO NOT SEND ANY PAYMENT as it will be a scam.

No member is authorised to arbitrate trades or provide escrow services on behalf of BHW
This is something we can look at providing in future if it appears necessary. Until then, use regulated escrow providers only - either a bank service, escrow.com or paypal arbitration (never use friends and family payments for services as you have zero protection).

Some of the accounts appear to have been sold or have changed hands - these are being investigated at the moment. For the meantime, keep yourself, your account and your money safe by doing the following:

Set up 2 Step verification. More information on this is here:
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/important-account-security.879700/

Do not send money that you can't claim back. paypal's "send money to friends and family" service and bitcoin payments are irreversible. Using them leaves you completely unprotected.

Don't buy services from people contacting you via PM. If they haven't got a marketplace thread, we won't have checked the service. If they're advertising secretly by messaging you, it's because they don't want their services reviewed (or mods to know they're selling it)

Keep all discussions on the forum. Publicly if possible, via PM if not. If you go off the forum to conduct business, we cannot help you and we cannot deal with the scammer concerned to stop them doing it again.

Don't give your skype address out to people asking for it. If someone asks you for your skype address in a PM, do not give it to them unless they tell you theirs first. Most Scammers won't even give you their skype addresses but ask for yours to add you. Make sure you get them to confirm their skype address via PM first BEFORE starting any discussion. If they're genuine, they won't mind telling you their details.

For more information on protecting yourself, this thread has lots of valuable information:
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/avoiding-scams-staying-safe-on-black-hat-world.884947/

We are collecting this information together in one place so that it's easy to find but until then, I'll sticky this thread here for now.

Thanks,
Apricot

No point telling some people, they are just too thick to take in common sense. They just steam straight ahead to those flashing dollar signs.

A fool and his money.......

@Apricot Is there a reason why BHW do not want to act as escrow? I think an official channel for escrow will eliminate all these scams easily. Maybe charging a service fee for the time spent by Mod for such escrow service?

I think most of the SMM panels and also Misc services has 3 or 4 "scam /fake users" on skype.. act as ecrow i think is just too much but maybe some rule or method to prevent "spam/scammers" or at least make it harder to them will be awesome, maybe if we make a Braingstorm we will get a good amount from the community :p

I believe that BHW, at least some of it's staff, are based in the UK and we have really strict laws on services that involve trading money. I could be wrong but it would likely cost a reasonable amount to set it up just based on legislation.

Like i said this could be fake but when my offline company setup a funding service we had to jump through an incredible amount of hoops and red tape

I appreciate the clarity, I told myself I thought it would be a great idea I go ahead and read up on everything first before taking any serious business action potentially here, you know I just want to make sure I am read up on all of the policies and regulations of the forum to ensure I am compliant right...

...So as im scrolling I run right into this thread here, and im given some very useful advice, because as im reading it, im thinking, you know I could find myself in those positions where my information is getting phished and im vulnerable because I didnt take time to verify the person im dealing with. Alot of times we'll find ourselves in those situations because of impulse and assumptions. This is very helpful, again I appreciate it.

Some times I see members need to buy/sell Fiverr accounts or domains, so I replied to some of these with PM, so as I see here this is not legal here, right?!

On other hand -- is there any other way than BTC to buy something really anonymously?

it must be a naive fool to someone to send bitcoins in private messages)))
