    Hello guys,

I am looking for a server I usually get VPS especially for sites with a lot of traffic but, I been reading about this Amazon Cloud Server which seems pretty popular and I wanted to know what you guys think about it since, I see some competitors using it too. What differences are provide vs a VPS?

Appreciate any help on the matter, because I am not sure for which one to decide.

    Thanks!

I use both... AWS scales better. a warning...Its easier to run up charges on AWS. pricing is usually a little higher with AWS but I am fairly certain it all runs on very high end enterprise equipment which is a little more uncommon for the budget VPS providers. Support is usually easier with VPS, but hopefully you never need it. Amazon's CDN is a great deal. If I was bootstrapping a start-up it would depend on funds.... VPS to save a little... AWS to be ready to grow and scale... depends on your needs. AWS can get pricey if you like to have development, staging, and production deployment servers... but AWS is great if you want your dev and staging to very closely mirror your production environment.

Loads of big site uses ACS but it's a PAIN IN THE BUTT to manage and scale.

The reason that the cloud would be a big advantage is scalability. Performance wise, a VPS or dedicated server can easily deal with the same traffic as an AWS. Likewise, there is very little difference between a cloud VPS and VPS. Ultimately, you should be on what makes you more comfortable. AWS involves you taking over some level of the management, whereas with a VPS you can still get managed. Don't be sucked in by "marketing speak," because cloud is the hot term now.
