Proxy’s your best bet, for best anonymity and the lowest ban risk. Its large, rotating IP pools let you run multiple profiles without overlap, and sites struggle to flag clean proxy IPs.

If you're managing a bunch of Instagram accounts, your best bet is to roll with an antidetect browser like GoLogin or Multilogin. Pair each profile with its own residential or mobile proxy - trust me, that’s key. Don’t go slapping the proxy on your whole Wi-Fi or system, though. That just gives all your profiles the same IP, which is basically asking to get linked. Now, if you're sticking with good old Chrome, at least set up separate Chrome users and handle proxies for each one. It works, but the fingerprint protection is kinda weak sauce compared to what antidetect browsers give you. Those bad boys go the extra mile by spoofing your browser and device fingerprints, so you stay way more under the radar.

Wow thank gosh you replied, before when i made multiple instagrams i stick the proxy in the wifi settings and instagram still detected that it was both the same person i was confused!

You're welcome!
Antidetect browsers (like Incogniton, Multilogin, or AdsPower)—they let you assign different proxies to separate profiles, keeping each identity isolated.

Hi. I once find ways to play Roblox at school but be afraid of being catching hhh. Then I'm recommended to use AdsPower (an anti-detect browser). It really helpful. It creates unique environment for my roblox IP and helps me bypass the geo and school's network restrictions. Similarly, managing multiple ins accounts can also use anti detection browsers by their powerful tools. Hoping can help you.

And this is the backlinks: https://www.adspower.com/.
you can try it.

VPN = secure + private, Proxy = just hides IP.
I prefer this response

I guess it depends on the use case. If you want to browse the web securely and anonymously, using a VPN would be better as it avoids any leaks. For normal browsing, scraping, and social media, go with proxies. They're cleaner, so less bans.
Even Elon Musk recently mentioned using VPN to use his promotional offer in a tweet. He knows that VPN is very common now.

Good breakdown, this matches what I’ve seen too. VPNs are fine for general privacy, but once you’re dealing with multiple accounts, proxies are just way more flexible. Especially with residential or ISP proxies — they tend to get flagged less than VPN IPs and you can assign them per profile instead of locking your whole system to one IP. In practice, mixing clean proxies with good profile management usually works better than relying on a VPN alone.

I know many of you are still unsure whether to use a VPN or a proxy for changing your IP when registering and managing multiple accounts. Here's a quick comparison based on my personal experience with both tools.

1. Similarities

Both can fake your IP address. This one is pretty clear – no debate here. When a website detects your IP, it will show the address of the proxy or VPN instead of your real one.

2. Differences
2.1. Security

The first major difference is security. VPN encrypts all your traffic before it’s sent to the website, while a proxy sends your data directly without encryption.
✅ Winner: VPN

2.2. Flexibility

- A VPN changes the IP address for the entire system (apps, profiles running on your device). If you want to change your IP, you have to turn off the VPN and switch to a new location.
- A proxy, however, can be assigned to multiple profiles/apps to change the IP address individually. For example, you can assign a proxy to different Chrome profiles to fake IPs for them.

✅ Winner: Proxy because you can run multiple profiles simultaneously without worrying about IP duplication.

2.3. Speed
This factor depends largely on the type of proxy and the service provider. Generally, datacenter proxies are the fastest > VPN > residential proxies.
✅Speed: A tie

2.4. IP Pool
Proxies usually have a much larger IP pool compared to VPNs. Plus, VPN IP pools are often collected by websites and easily detected.
✅Winner: Proxy for cleaner IPs.

In summary, this is a quick comparison to help you decide which tool to use depending on the situation. If you're registering and managing multiple accounts, a proxy is the best choice. It offers a variety of types, a larger IP pool, faster speeds, and greater flexibility. You can also use a combination of VPN and proxy, for example, by running a VPN in the background with a proxy location that matches it. In case a website detects your connection, it will use the VPN’s IP instead of your original one.

I agree with the people who left comments earlier, it all depends on the purposes of using the proxy.

VPN encrypts all your system traffic at the OS level and routes it through a tunnel to a remote server, meaning everything on your device - browser, desktop apps, background processes - goes through the VPN connection. Proxies only handle specific applications or protocols (typically just HTTP/HTTPS traffic) at the application level, leaving everything else on your system exposed through your ISP's connection, which is why proxies don't provide true privacy or security - they just mask your IP for specific tasks.

I think it's the same thing because both change your IP's
Not even close,

A vpn can be instantly seen as you trying to hide your ip address and will be seen as a bot by a lot of systems while a proxy will seem more like a real person.

For school wifi and a blocked game on an iPhone, VPN is the practical choice. iOS doesn’t really support per-app or per-profile proxies in a usable way, and games usually break or lag more with random proxies anyway. The lag you see is normal on cheap or overloaded VPN servers, switching location or protocol usually helps more than changing tools.

For two Instagram accounts on a Mac, don’t use a VPN. Use separate Chrome profiles with one clean proxy per profile, ideally residential or mobile, same country as your normal usage. VPN IPs are heavily reused and Instagram flags them fast, especially if both accounts appear behind the same exit node. The key is consistency, not rotating IPs every hour.
