I believe I am in the correct are for this question. If not Moderator Please forgive me. I would just like to know what is "More Secure" here on the net. I do have a VPN encrypted and this is what I use say when I want to keep myself out of reach. I do have my DNS changed for I believe if they find your out of the box DNS then they can get you for say a torrent movie. Then you get warned by the ISP you use. I do have steady access to Proxy that I can hold onto 30 days at a time.

I can run my browser vial a proxy and view YouTube with not issue. I am very Leary though on downloading a Movie from a torrent site using just a proxy number.

VPN is more secure. But make sure all traffic goes through VPN.
Thank you for the Input. This is what I usually do. I run my browser thru the proxy address, but the system is booted into a secure vpn. I Just need to brush up on the proxies for my own knowledge. You are never too old to learn this. I'm not ancient but middle way. Will chat to u some other time.

vpn probably gonna be more secure/quicker than a proxy
but each have there uses under different circumstances
Could you possibly explain the difference's? I been using a VPN for the last 2 years. I am just experimenting with all options for security blindness. I Have played with proxies, but I do know for a fact being under the VPN and in a tunnel is probably the best. But can a proxy be safe and hidden my original ip address.

I've ran Tor many times. I just noticed it is kinda of slow on downloads for being bounce from one machine to another machine to protect identity. I really have nothing to hide meaning me personally but it just PIZZES me off on all the Governments spying on people. If I can make it just a bit harder for them to do is my goal. They pull this crap on all of us but you have to ask just what they have to hide.
Have a good day.

I would suggest you to do it on a $5-$10 per month windows vps and then transfer files to your computer .

@bonehead01

when replying to 2/3 people please do it in 1 thread like this
or the mods have to merge all 3 into 1

What's the purpose of using them (VPN, proxies)?

Here's a simpler way to put it:

For personal use (privacy, anonymity from ISP, geo-hiding, downloading) - a VPN is the best choice.

For automation, marketing (any online task that you want to perform on other websites) - use proxies (you can use multiples proxies at the same time).

Also, do not torrent over proxies unless they are SOCKS proxies (HTTP proxies won't hide torrenting).

well I do thank you for the response but I am sorry I am not a Windows person. No offense to you. I do pay for a vpn yearly. I was just curious on the Proxy workings.

I'll try to understand what you are saying. I just been hitting reply to answer. Is that incorrect. I Know on some other forums I am involved in to just answer say per you I will simply hit quote and it would only go to say you.

if your only replying to 1 person it doesnt matter just reply.
if your replying to 2/3/4 people then use the quote/reply option
to reply to all in 1 post.

alright, i was missing that option. or could you use it as script file

Ill get it together now. Tks for your support

VPN is used to hide your traffic from your ISP
Proxy is used to hide your VPN IP address
Third party DNS is used to hide your queries from ISP
WebRTC block is used to prevent DNS leaks in browser

That is one of the Explanations I was looking for. So it is Ok to run my vpn and use a proxy setting for the browser. Correct?
tks in advance
