Using Google+ while staying Anonymous - Is it possible?

Hey guys, I have been wondering if it is possible to stay anonymous while still making use of Google+ for branding and authorship.

By anonymous I mean that I don't want to use my real name, but rather a 'nickname' or alias that I use on my authority or business site. I know Google+ supports aliases from what I've read, but I assume it also asks for a REAL first and last name as well?

My intent is to build up a legitimate profile and brand online (authority site, primarily whitehat with great content), but I don't want to associate that brand with my real name or face picture (don't want the fame, or to be identified IRL "Oh, you're the guy that runs blahblahsite").

I'd like to legitimately use a name like "Dr.SEO" and a pic of a branded cartoon 'face' (as an example). Or even better a name like "Amazon" (business) and business logo.

MAIN Q: Does anyone know if it's possible to do this on Google+ without getting an account ban? Is there a legit way to do this?

BONUS Q: I know Facebook is less strict with having a fake name, but for those of you experienced with FB marketing, what have your experiences been with account bans \ non-RL identity issues with FB profiles?

On G+ you can, because there are many entertainment pages. You can use your main account, but you can select the name you want to show for G+, and stuff like that. You may log into Google as John Doe, but you'll only ever be noted on G+ as Amazing SEO Tips.

I am using google authorship for my site. I am using a fake name with a fake picture. Don't worry. You will be fine.

You can stay anonymous. I even think more people are doing that now.

Why don't you just make a new Google account? It's free, and you can use whatever name you like when setting it up. You can then go about making your G+ page.

Of course I am aware that I could make an account or use a fake name, however I was more curious whether these types of accounts are banned by G+ eventually. This is not a problem when using such a profile for a drive-by or short-term project.

However if you are trying to build an authority site, legitimately gathering a large following, and establishing yourself -- and then one day having all your hard work wiped out because Big G doesn't like that you aren't using your real name in your profile -- THAT is something I'd like to try and avoid.

That is useful to know, thanks. However, I am assuming if you used real name to signup (to avoid any possible ban), even though your 'Amazing SEO Tips' is only displayed, then there is probably still your real name listed SOMEWHERE in your profile, or at the very least in Google's database (in case you want multiple profiles, one for each seperate project, this creates both a 'fingeprint' and 'multiple accounts by same user' for Google to mass ban)

I received and email before asking me to update the account because it didn't seem legit lol long story short make sure you name seems legit or atleast to others so they don't report you
