Useless comments on sale threads ?

"no good winging when you get questions that could lead to sales"
I thought you mean that I posted here because I found a good thread to send people to my BST, if I understood it wrong sorry, my bad. My English is indeed not perfect as I am not a native speaker :( And usually people accuse each other of things like that :P (because it happens unfortunately)

100% with you. its so hard to find usefull informations on those topics.

Yes you did get that wrong, no drama

Yeah you are right sometimes it gets difficult to find an appropriate review since most of the posts are only for asking coupons

Especially those threads with 50+ pages nad you need to see each page to find any review

Hello guys,

I was checking some sale threads on bhw and I found it difficult to filter reviews from all those useless comments transactions IDs, coupon requests, same serp stats screenshots etc. because sale thread owners are asking clients or potential clients to do things just because they want their thread bumped.

Comment with transaction ID( I am a seller too and I don't think posting transactions IDs on sale thread will help me, just if I want to bump the thread)
Ask for coupons(Why can't you just make public the code on your latest post or ask people to send you a private massage?)

I would suggest to add a rule that doesn't allow sellers to ask this useless comments.

What do you think?

Yep, think it's a good idea. The rules already prohibit people asking for review copies and the only people that should be posting in the thread are buyers or people asking questions to help them make a buying decision.

Don't post if you are not a buyer.
It's simple if you have never used a service you can't comment on how it works / how effective it is. We ask all thread creators to report any unreasonable posts to a mod where they will be reviewed. If you are found to be using this service unreasonably you will be banned.

Don't request trials / review copies.
The op will post the number of review / trial copies they are willing to give away, if any, and will provide the criteria they require to get a review / trial copy (often these are only for Jr. VIP accounts).

If a member is going through sales threads posting a fair amount of short, random comments along these lines, we'll remove the content and give the member a warning for spam. Unfortunately, we rely on people reporting posts that break these rules and there's not much motivation for sellers to report posts that bump their threads.

Personally, I like the idea of stopping people posting "ordered service, transaction xxxxxxx957" or "interested to see how this goes" or "do you have discount codes" or similar. However, it's not just putting the rules in place, we need to work out how we'll enforce them otherwise they get ignored and members breaking the rules start complaining that other people are getting away with it.

You will always get people asking for the latest coupon or a discount, even if it's been posted on the same page. Some people are just too lazy to look!!

Transaction IDs I see absolutely no need for. If the seller wants to track BHW sales through their site they should just add a new field to their form for BHW username. (Many already do this)

Couldn't agree more. Many sellers ask buyers to post in the thread as part of the order process - it's kind of obnoxious and a fairly transparent method of gaming the rules. Also, based on the amount of shitlist threads we see where people don't know the username of the person they were scammed by, it doesn't appear to be useful for tracking forum sales.

In a similar vein, we'll often get people request that their negative review be removed "as the problem's been resolved". We sometimes find that the seller has offered a conditional refund as long as the buyer gets the bad review removed. As mods, we really dislike this type of coercion and we will come down hard on any seller doing this. A service should meet the criteria set out in the sales copy. If it doesn't, the buyer should get a refund. Holding someone's refund ransom is a great way to flag yourself up as a bad seller that we'll keep a very close eye on.

Or fake accounts with 1 message who ordered right away. Dozens on one BST..

This is a personal bugbear for the mods here - please report these wherever you see them. They're not always the easiest thing to definitively prove because sellers will use proxies for the posts, so if we can't prove they're fake on the spot, the seller will go on our list and we'll periodically check their threads for this. We've found that proxies aren't reliably consistent and zero-footprints don't exist. Sooner or later, proxies fail or people slip up and we'll pick it up during the periodic checks.

Fwiw, I'm loving this thread. Feedback and opinions like this help us determine priorities and allocate budgets when we plan forum improvements.

post count spamming / poaching potential marketplace buyers via PM
I agree !

Yeah I think this is one of the most important updates the marketplace needs right now. The threads are so filled with garbage that it's not worth reading through them anymore at all. Even when the question you were going to ask already half of the time the seller has answered the question in a PM rather than just posting it on the thread itself, it's really annoying.

Thread having like more than 70+ pages have like 2 reviews in every 5 pages and that review is not even worth reading.

Edit: MisterF gives a good suggestion.

My suggestion:

There should be like making a sub forum for transaction ID and shit.

Leaving sells thread only for review from buyer and updates from sellers is the best of best thing on BHW.

People posting transaction ID on the sales thread will be banned in sells thread.

It could help tidy up the sales threads if the layout was set differently;
Post 1 is the actual sales thread with buy button etc.
Post 2 is reserved for the seller for reviews/feedback.
Post 3 is for the Mod who approves the thread.

It kind of pisses me off with a few sellers who have the huge half page reviews that they constantly repost, meaning you're having to scroll past the same things that's been reposted 3 dozen times.
If the sellers had just a post to update with reviews, that would remove some of the clutter.

This isn't a fool proof way as not everybody includes the word "review" in their review. But often I just search for "review" or keywords I think might be included in a review and tick "search this thread only". It would be good if sales threads didn't have as much fluff to wade through, although I'm sure I've contributed to some of it, but using the search should help filter things considerably.

A lot of sellers actually ask you to post comments like that, in order to bump their thread.

I have even faced, after purchase post Trans ID and then we will start working on your order.

I believe this is against bhw rulea, but diddn't bother reporting to mods at the time.

I donnu if there is any rule regarding it. But you should report the seller.

Edit: below to Proxygo.
Well that's the thing going on.
Fake accs/bots post bunch of the post on sells thread or whatever, including the one which he want to promote/bump/fake reviews of course fake promotion.
So nobody will know.

Dead marketplace? In case you forgot sale thread owners can bump their threads once at every 72 hours or reply to previous comments once a day. Logically speaking you will have your thread more time on first page if members will post less on other sale threads(just reviews, important questions and updates coming from OP)

I don't find any connection between what I said and marketplace @ the world. They are asking for discounts directly to the seller(in our case you can send a private message) also I don't have problems with members that asks for discounts, I just don't like bst owners who ask members to post on thread "send me coupon code".

Then we'll just agree to disagree. This is a nonissue IMO. I like the marketplace as it is.

Do you have a BST, or are you just taking notes on how to exploit the bumps? :D JK JK

I like the three post reserved idea that @MisterF posted. It would be very helpful. Maybe include a 4th one, for links of sample / reports.

I like the suggestion by @MisterF too. It would certainly help when you're going through a sales page that is hundreds of pages long.

I do agree to an extent. It is a bit annoying when sales threads are just full of crap - sometimes just finding the latest review is almost impossible.

So what would you like OP? A dead marketplace where no one posts? You publish a BST and it flips to page 2 and it's gone forever, is that it?

But this ^^ is what came to my mind as well; if there are none of these types of posts allowed then how will the sales threads stay active? This would be bad for the sellers but also bad for buyers because we would never find half of these threads.
