United Kingdom Is Now On A Lockdown

no this is a lie. There isn’t anyone that has a ‘greater chance of catching it’. Schools are only open for those children who have parents with essential roles in the NHS. You sound misinformed.

Nope. Schools are open to all Keyworkers. Which is most of the people who send children to school has nothing to do with the NHS. It's to keep all services going.

Children in school are to keep at distance from each other but the majority of children there DO have parents who are considered to be "front line" workers if they are not isolating from families and then the children mix with them and then go to school what do you think is going to happen? You have more children in a smaller area but larger groups of them all who have parents on the front line in what is effectively day care with a larger % that may have been exposed to it all confined to one area.

The support staff and teachers in that school are on rosters but then interact with those children and then go back home.

Mybae greater chance is the wrong word. But they maybe have a greater chance of being exposed compared to say my children.

Absolutely essential. Was being completed ignored and we were on verge of Italy numbers.
There isn’t anyone that has a ‘greater chance of catching it’.

We still are on the same curve as Italy if you compare it to when the first case was, Italy has also been on lock down.
People who spent more time with those who already have it have a greater chance of catching, i.e NHS staff, also those who have to travel in larger groups have greater chance, such as those who take public transport.

Boris is either up to something, or too slow to do his job properly.

Here you go @Flacko if you not already seen it: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

It's open to just about everyone UNLESS you have someone at home i.e the other parent does not qualify for one of them rolls. Majority of people are keeping kids away however there is a % of them at school MAINLY children from the NHS. It's down to each council to decide how they enforce it and decide who is applicable and who is not and that varies council to council.

But like I said the way I see it you now have specific hubs where chances of infection are greater because the number of children who are likely exposed to it IF their own parents are not self isolating is greater vs having a school open running day to day.

Schools closed way to early and was done so to buckle to public pressure.

No other nation (as far as I'm aware) is doing this key worker / schools become day care hubs and there's a reason for it.

Might be a bit tin foil hat BUT like I said if you ask me this combined with public transport (underground) and the focus on antibody testing means we are still doing a heard immunity just the government does not want to broadcast that after the backlash they had 2 weeks ago when they first announced it on live TV!

idk why they're taking it so long to make those decisions. Damn it.

Congrats UK, only about two weeks late? Same with USA their numbers are even worse than Italy had.. next weeks will be tough for whole world, but countries with leaders who underestimted this will suffer the most.

The idea that we don't have antiretrovirals that combat this, in a lab somewhere, is complete and utter bollocks, interesting to see if a company "comes up with one" when we run out of ventilators.

Which country is not in a lockdown now or in the near future?

We’re on lockdown officially as of today but in reality we’ve been locked down in my house since Tuesday evening.

So far so good. Doing 3 workouts per day now so hopefully keep the fitness up despite all this crap that’s going on.

stay safe everyone.

What is so surprising OP?.. in fact UK is late on the lock down. Most countries and cities in the world are already in lock down days or weeks ago..

Is this a fact or your opinion?

It's statistically the most probable development. Vaccine is far and away and there is no viable enough data to suggest the virus will just disappear with time by itself. Maybe not 80% but around 65-70%, that's what the world needs as herd immunity in order to naturally contain the outbreak.

There is Remdesivir, Favipiravir and some more that works, its just nothing is tested enough to be given to thousands and millions of people who might need it. Stying home and going out once a week for shopping, wearing face mask and gloves is still the best option.

Unfortunately Ireland and Turkey arent lockdown.
Both country are late aswell.Still people arent careful for social distance and they dont care the situation.
Turkey will be seriosuly worse then Italy because press doesnt share anything due to goverment.

Didn't that drug in Japan have a good success rate when it was tested as it's already been approved for 'human' use. I don't get why we are not focusing heavily on that. From all of the "cure" news that has been around that seemed like the best option.

There is chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine both treatments for maleria which have been effective at stopping the virus in the tests they have done.

Both of them have a bad list of side effects though but if you're faced with a 50/50 chance of living or dying I'd probably rather have some nasty sides.

The thing I just don't believe in all of this is the numbers from China and the first cases around the world outside China.

How the fuck can a country so populated regardless of their lock down measures have less than double the amount of cases as Italy.

I just don't see how they can have so few cases especially when you look at how quick it has exploded in other tight areas like New York.

I personally believe that China have been bull shitting about their initial numbers and time of the outbreak.

Also there are various places saying some people had this in China in November, in my opinion it is extremely doubtful that not one single person managed to leave China with this virus before then.

I mean surely people would have spread this globally before the end of January even if just to one country.

I can tell you now, end of September my brother was hospitalised in the Royal in liverpool. They run tests on his blood, didn't know what it was.

He was sweating, and struggling to breath (no cough) they could not find what it was.

He was then transferred to an infectious disease ward in Broadgreen Hospital where upon leaving about 6 days after his first symptoms they still didn't know what it was.

Antibiotics did nothing to whatever he had. It was dreadful, I thought he was gonna miss his stag, got out on the Thursday and went on a sober stag on Saturday haha

Edit: Forgot to say there are reports of WeChat which is apparently the China version of WhatsApp having a suppression list of words that they had been filtering out of everyone's messages.

Draconian measures do pay out. I highly doubt any other country barring North Korea could implement that level of enforced discipline and control over the citizens. Taking everyone with highish temperature by force into quarantine and welding people in inside the living buildings. The CCP has my respect in that regard. They may lie about the actual numbers but they couldn't hide it from the world if the contagion had spread beyond Hubei province and was overwhelming the hospitals all around China.
But even China isn't in the clear yet due to the real possibility of a secondary wave coming from the outside or new hotspot in other parts of the country.

They'll surely hand us back our freedom after this is over. LOOOOOL
