Basically, FB’s algorithm valuate & grade every posts, advertisements, stories, and reels then arange them by users’ interest level gradually decrease, not in chronological order (it happens everytime users refresh their newfeeds.)
There have been many changes lately in FB’s algorithm. However, in general, it still bases on 3 elements:
  • VIA: a trusted FB profile that has many interactions from other users will be prioritize displayed.
  • The quality of content: Ì frequently interact with a specific form of content, users will see that kind of content more & more.
  • The interaction: ofc the algorithm will prioritize posts that have many interactions, specially the profile has many interactions before.
Beside, FB also provide some options help users train the algorithm and customize their newfeeds:
  • Favourite list: we can choose maximum 30 subjects & pages to add into favourite list; posts from these ones will be showed up abundantly.
  • Customize experience on FB: FB will know what type of contents users interested most.
  • FB delete content that violents Community Standards and legal poliies: reduce content distribution that sensitive (ex: wrong information, verbal violence,...

In addition to your write up, some of the factors that make content tick on facebook's ever-evolving algorithm are: understanding ones audience, using relevant keywords and hashtags, engaging and triggering emotions, responding to comments.

do you thing FB reach has dropped over the failed meta thing
I don't really think so. Because the name Facebook is still used commonly, nothing's change except the mother company that doesn't affect the brand name FB. Or maybe you meant.. after Meta comes up, there are many changes in policies & algorithm, right?

I noted that, especially the triggering emotions, that's really true. But maybe those who study much about marketing/ads know how...
I find that Facebook is quite complicated with these issues
Yeah, and we like... fall in love with that complicated :>> We all like to subdue haha
