Hey. Two questions to help further my understanding of SEO:

1) I've just created a pretty lengthy guide on my page. For a new(ish) site, is it worth it to start building links to this specific page? Or just stick to homepage links for now? And why?

2) How do you track where your keywords are performing in Google? Assuming this is what SERP trackers are? How do they work? Any recommendations for free/low cost/ trial ones? Only have 8 articles (so 8 keywords) so wouldn't need anything major, but I guess, good to have a tool when I grow my content.

Thanks in advance.
Ravi.

Hi,

Here is the answer of your questions:

1. Start building link for new created page (guide). It is a best option to let know about more pages of your website. And more keywords in SERP means more traffic.

2. SEMrush which is paid but best tool to track keyword performance in SERP.

Thanks for this. So yes, target other pages?

Looks like a good tool :) Is it yours?
Nah not mine . i just save links that I think are useful . and here it is for you.
Yes .. target every page that you think is worth .. it will give diversity to the link building you will be doing for your website.

1. If you built links already pointing to the homepage - then you can now built links to the new page created.
2. I use tools like SEMRush - I do watch Google webmaster search queries too. If you have the keywords ready - then there are plenty of tools to check the SERP status - SmallSEOTools

You need to diversify. No matter what your strategy is, just don't act like a bot, like a spammer or like you are following SEO guides from 2002.
Diversify everything and you will be ok.

1. If it’s a new site build links to your homepage first. This powers the ENTIRE domain. Any page u build after this will feed off this power and rank without many links.

2. SerpRobot is awesome :)

Built a link for the new created page ..

I suggest "SerpRobot" Tool

If the link is about specific concept, its better to link to that page which has that concept.

To track performance use Google search console.
