Can someone explain how this helps you get followers? I am using this and it copies the tweet from a profile and shares on mine. How does that help my profile? Thanks

@ddlmachine ?

Yeah just start a fresh account and set everything up, start posting some nice content.

Also do a search for the hashtag #FollowBack. That should get you started nicely :) That's what I did in the very beginning and it helped get me started.

I look at it this way, if I had known about this IFTTT thing back when I started this particular account, I would have been doing it back then.

Thanks for the input :) So if I get it right, you are using the IFTTT to retweet any tweet a certain user is tweeting? and then people see your retweet and start following you?
if so, can't you target your niche by retweeting tweets from accounts of your niche?

For example:
My niche would be bodybuilding. So I would look for one of the most active users that posts about his workouts and encouragements for others to workout aswell all day long. People who follow me for retweeting those posts will all be interested in working out and getting into shape right? Or am I thinking too easy here?

@waltersweb
That is correct. Look for the most influential twitter account you can find in your niche, set up ifttt to retweet them, but also put your ow twist on it. I won't guarantee anything, as results will usually vary.
I have another Twitter account in the computer/tech niche, it does get some interaction, but nothing like my other one.

@waqas_ibrahi
I read about the method somewhere last year and thought I would try it, and it seemed to work. I remember seeing a thread here on BHW within the past few months discussing the same thing, only about an IG account that has gained a ridiculous amount of followers with this type of method.

Thanks, OP! For a good method. I tried this on the new account related to sports. The results are not that great on this niche and I think I know the reason:
  1. IFTTT retweets everything -> Tweets, replies, links to websites. The best performers are images and videos, especially funny ones or "relatable". I posted a couple of humour posts manually on my timeline and some on popular accounts posts -> the engagements rate difference is like day and night. Everything else is not that much popular and the engagement rates for those are almost non-existent. We need some "retweet only content with image/video media" switch - this way we could retweet much more pages and only the most engaging content.
  2. Most of the accounts on my niche only post 7-15 posts per day. I need to retweet like 10-15 to reach at least 200 tweets per day. The problem is if those 10-15 accounts post a tweet at the same time (which happened to me) you are reaching limit of 15 minutes window on twitter and account gets blocked and needs verification (happened to me in 2-3 hours from the start). But if you keep with smaller amount of accounts then you don't post much of tweets
  3. I think another issue is account age + initial twitter followers count (maybe tweet count too?). I think this has been discussed many many times here on BHW, but I wanted to try this method with completely new account. On my niche you will definitely need at least 500 or 1000 initial followers (they can be bots) to have better follow back ratio. The only accounts which re-follow me are my competition. With humour or adult accounts it might not be the issue, but it is in my niche. I am not going to buy initial followers for this account, but I will for my other accounts and try if that helps (I will firstly try without followers then compare with them). Also If I could find accounts which post atleast 100-200 tweets per day it would fill my account with tweet count in no time.
  4. The way how IFTTT retweets (reposts) might be an issue. IFTTT does not do real retweet - it reposts. IFTTT creates much much garbage - some posts are copied without media, even though the post had it. Posts with links to website are not that great too. Some "reposts" gets "RT {account name}" at the beginning, but some not. I am not sure why, but it does not look good. At the end of the day the account looks like a real spam account.
  5. Hashtags are important - some hashtags works some - not. When you are reposting other pages with IFTTT it starts to become very hard to go through each account whenever you want to try out other set of hashtags.

Next steps for me: to try out other niches + create a better reposter robot which emits (replies, posts without media, does not add "RT" at the beginning of the post, removes posts with links to websites and of course has easier hashtag management). This way I could repost more content, the content would be of much bigger value and more engaging and I could try out many different hashtags in a matter of seconds without tearing my eyes out. Currently I am busy with other projects and I am not sure as to when I will be able to do this. Anyway I will update this post with my observations whenever I do.

Guys, here is an alternative applet which does exactly the same thing, but it has configuration with syntax what to put in the retweet message:

https://ifttt.com/applets/212493p-auto-retweet

For example, you can remove "RT Username" syntax, and probably add some hashtags. Haven't checked properly myself yet.

It doesn't seem to be retweeting pics/videos too well either. But there is a syntax "embed tweet", which I want to try and see if it does the job.

I also think, that one of the good ways to run this thing is to load about 5-10 accounts with moderate following and that don't tweet very often, just few tweets a day. This way your account will look legit as if you are retweeting decent stuff from different people.

I agree with the idea of 5-10 accounts who doesn't tweet a lot. Preferrably with images and/or videos - that get's much more engagement. And even more better content mixed with humour. :)

I tried different IFTT syntax'es but they do not work as expected, sometimes RT is added by backend even though I remove it from recipe. Embedded content looks strange on my page so I left with simple REPOST'ing. I am also building my own bot which I can configure to repost only posts with images/videos and maybe only the viral ones (a couple of days old). I found out that reposting other people's viral posts from the past (a couple for days or weeks old) work really well!

Anyway have a good luck with IFTTT and let us know what works best for you :)

What are you reposting with for now?

Also, what can you recommend to cloak the link in bio with? I tried url shortener, but twitter didn't allow it. Then I used pretty link plugin with one of my domains, but it takes ages when redirectin to final labding page. It seems that it is twitter's fault.

@abraguda - It may depend on the user you are tweeting. When I started, I was retweeting a very popular account that did a lot of shout-outs and extra crap, all of that stuff got re-tweeted; none of which made sense for my account. I switched to another user who had steady, relevant tweets, but who didn't add in all the extra bs. All I get is the original tweet text and the image, plus I add in a few hashtags and urls. Have had no issues with this configuration.

This stuff does work to gain followers. My problem is monetization.

For example I setup (using IFTTT) RSS to Twitter on a sports niche. I setup over 20 accounts with around 120k followers in total.

I tried everything on the monetaztion front: sports betting promos, content locked videos, free videos with adsense locked at header and footer on moible and made very little money. Like $2 per day.

For me, making money on Twitter is extremely difficult using automated processes.

Have you looked into this guide? You might find new ideas: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/b...nts-for-free-cheap-v-2017-deadz.950844/page-3 . I am also running one of accounts related to sports. I don't know why, but people do not follow me even though the engagement is good, people in sports niche are interested in knowing more so they click links. I retweet videos, images, humour and some links to sports news website and they are clicking those links like hell. I believe you have tried Adsense, but how many ads are you showing? Have you tried being more aggressive on that?

I am also trying out things with adult niche. I will give an in-depth update on both accounts with my findings, ideas and assumptions sometime later (hopefully next week). But with adult niche I can only say WOW, the average engagement rate is like 10%, people really want to watch adult content on Twitter.

One more thing - people say that their followers grow steadily every day. I don't know why but non of my channels gets new followers. I will try changing the account name and the images, maybe there is a problem with that. :)
