If I remember, you also mentioned about having an automatic assault rifle.. Why not hide in the bushes and when you see the guy messing with cars, jump out and start shooting.

Semi-automatic (it's an AR-15). Automatic weapons are a no-no from what I recall about gun laws. And it's there as a safety measure. The goal is to never have to shoot the thing except when we go out into the woods where my wife's family lives and play target practice with ballistics gel dummies (I'm not a hunter).
