Semi-automatic (it's an AR-15). Automatic weapons are a no-no from what I recall about gun laws. And it's there as a safety measure. The goal is to never have to shoot the thing except when we go out into the woods where my wife's family lives and play target practice with ballistics gel dummies (I'm not a hunter).
