Hello,
I started a niche tube site three weeks ago, and added it to GSC about two weeks ago. So far I'm getting most of my traffic from social media, with only 9 clicks from Google.
I've been following Adrian's guide so far [Mod edit no links to sites], but I have some questions about his advice in case I'm missing something. Specifically, about the following claims:
1. 3-4 posts/day max when your site is new. Once you reach 100 posts, you can post 10 a day
I read on this forum about new sites ranking super fast with thousands of videos added within a month or two. Is there any reason to cap your posts at first? Google only crawls once every few days anyway. What's a good amount of videos per day?
2. Write a 80-120 word description for every video (or at least 250 words if you want to rank higher than average)
I've done this and man, it's friggin' killing me. Takes so long. I checked some competitors with 100k-2M views/month and they either omit the description or blatantly copy the title in the description box (with maybe some tweaking). Should I just do the same and not worry about descriptions?
3. Using many tags and categories leads to more visits
I was browsing the forum last night and came across a post saying that indexing tags & categories leads to duplicates and useless pages that compete with your actual content. I've checked GSC this morning and sure enough, most of the pages that took so long to crawl until now were my 150+ tag pages, not the videos! I removed the category and tag xml sitemaps from GSC and no-indexed them using Yoast. Currently waiting for my 70 or so videos to get properly indexed. Am I doing the right thing?
4. Post frequency
Not part of Adrian's advice, but does it really matter if I post daily or not, ranking-wise? Or, can I skip one or two days if I don't have time and catch up later.
5. CPA networks
Most of my competitors use networks with dynamic ads that change every time you refresh the page plus fancy videos/chat notifications, while Crakrevenue (the one I use) seems to focus more on classic jpg/gif banners and non-changing popup notifications that appear once every 24h. Is it wise to go with CPA at the beginning, or am I better off with a network that pays per click or impressions? If so, what is the best network to use in this situation?
Thanks for reading!
