Trying to understand twitter

I got my account locked several times and each time I just did a phone verification but it seems that after the first time, my account has been ghost flagged or something of the sort. If I follow even 10 people it will lock, if a like too many tweets it will lock, if I retweet too much it will lock, and if I tweet too many times within a certain time frame it will lock. How long do I have to wait before my account is back to normal? Also, if they are going to keep doing this why don't they just define limits and make things easier for everyone?

I recommend researching what are the safe hourly limits and daily limits before just blasting away on the account or you will always have this problem.
 
I thought I was doing things slow enough but I guess not. It was working fine for a while. I'm saving up to get massplanner.
 
How many following and followers do you have? Is it a new account? Don't do anything for a few days. Let your account rest for a bit.

My following to follower ratio is 4503/1678. I've been following and was going to wait a week before I started unfollowing people who don't follow back. However, I think I targeted a bad account because the refollows aren't that high. My account is an old account but it was inactive for a while. Right now it seems to be growing organically. I managed to get some followers who love retweeting my stuff.
 
Oh, so it's an old account. Maybe you're doing everything too fast? I suggest not to do anything for a few days.
 
Building up a userbase on Twitter takes a long time. Twitter kinda starts to do the same things Facebook does. You just have to have patience with it.
 
It's not the sheer number of followers you have or how many you follow, it is more important to follow the right people and get the right ones following you back. To be honest, gone are the days where you follow 50 people per day and a week later you start unfollowing those who haven't followed you on day one. Twitter success is about stroking the ego of others, sucking up a little here and there and being noticed by the right people for the right reasons as well as posting and RT'ing good content, related content and their content.

Where people really miss the boat on when it comes to twitter is that it's not about just hitting that RT button, it's about finding the influencers in your market and then finding their sites because you don't always want to just mach that RT button each time they Tweet something. Go to their sites, find their great content and Tweet it with a mention of them in the Tweet.

That alone can work wonders, especially if they are the kind of person who will thank you in a Tweet because they are giving you their followers attention which slingshots you in to the limelight for all the right reasons and their followers will follow you for that.

Alright, thanks guys. I'm going to let my account sit a day or 2 and during that time I'm going to take shezbov's advice and make a list of twitter accounts that I want to get on good terms with and do what was suggested. I guess if I want to master a social networking site I'll actually have to do some social networking lol.

My account features adult content and as a general rule, I don't send support messages for such accounts unless absolutely necessary.
 
Maybe it's a good idea to put that account on vacation and start working on another account. Continuously getting your account locked will get to a point where they will hand over a permanent suspension. So it's better let it rest and start doing another account.

Yeah. I started a pinterest account that I plan on building up. Probably going to make that my main project now and just monitor my twitter for a while.
 
Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest are all very hard to grow using other methods than whitehat. I remember back in days when you could make thosands od followers and friends using different shortcut methods. But nowadays is almost impossible. They are improving their filters every day and know almost every spam method.

Isn't it obvious they don't want to make it easier for you but more difficult. Your accounts behavior obviously seems spammy to their system and they are limiting you and that might never change once they've flagged you like that. They don't want to make their limits and their whole spam detection features public, because if we knew exactly how it all worked, we'd effortlessly find a way around it and abuse their platform (which many of us do anyway and would continue to do so anyway). They don't want us on their platform, abusing it in order to market something and earn money, they want regular people addicted to their network and businesses that are paying them money in order to reach those people. So you need to actively be working to make your account look organic and non-spammy, so they would view you as one of the people they want. You have to experiment, learn, fail and adapt constantly, that's the nature of the beast.

Yeah. I have seen many do Adult accounts at Pinterest and so far Pinterest hasn't done a major crack down. I have made an account just to monitor behavior of several adult pinterest accounts. From accounts which aggressively spamming to account which try to stay under raider trying to blend in.

My piniterest account is safe for work. I figure I should try to establish a long term account in something just in case these site do start to crack down on porn.

Can I make a new account on the same ip without it flagging me?
 
As long as your account become older, they will ease the restrictions.
