I just got a pretty out-of-the-box idea, but I'm not completely sure it'll work out. I just wanted your opinion and suggestions, and perhaps this could become a full method. I bet it would work pretty well. I need you to post at least an opinion about it, and some suggestions on it would be really great.

I posted this method on another forum, too, but figured I'd rather share it here.

Okay, first thing you want to do is make up some new product which you can't just randomly find in a household.. Something totally stupid that no one would normally have lying around.. And something you can mass produce. I'm not really sure what, but you kinda get the point. Let's say for example purposes you use "Potato sculptures" (You cut a potato into a little man-whatever-thing)

Now, you need to take two pictures of your sculpture! From slightly different angles, and on different desks for example.

You want to make an account on eBay and another somewhere else. Craigslist, for example. One account puts up his awesome potato-figure for, let's say, 500$ on ebay.

The next account sets up a post somewhere else, let's say Craigslist or whatever you want. We'll have to figure this one out together I think.

Now, you want to make a post there, saying something like "I'm a collector of rare figures, and one of my friends (who is also a collector) showed me this picture of something he bought <insert second picture of weird potato-thingy here>.. I'd like to buy something like it, preferably as identical as possible! I'm willing to pay at least 1000$ for it. Contact me on my email: test@test.test"

Then, you make ANOTHER account, and make a comment (Okay, you can't do this on Craigslist I think, but you get the point) - We need to covertly link to our ebay sales page in a way that doesn't seem obvious. Make a comment saying "lol, like dis? linktoebaysalespagehere".. Now, someone else will see that comment, think "Oh, here's some easy cash to be made. I'll buy this for 500$ on ebay and resell it for 1000$. Easy profit!" - But once he's bought it from the ebay account, you never buy it through the craigslist thing. You simply ignore him.

That's basically scamming, and yes, it's kind of blackhat, but surely not illegal as long as you cover your tracks. You're selling basically some crap for as much as you want, really. You could do 1000$/2000$ as well. Just gotta be creative with the thing. I don't think potato figures would work too well, though, because you might get a ton of emails from people putting together their own ones, lol. A good idea would be art. Make your own "Abstract" drawings and resell them with this method.

So, what do you guys think? Opinions and suggestions are appreciated. I'm yet to try this method, but I'm pretty sure it could work out nicely. It definitely has potential. If you know any sites where you could post the buying part, please share them. I believe this method can easily net in $10k per month if you actively do it every or every other day. It just needs a little improving, which I'm hoping you guys can help with. :)

If you posted that comment in the thread with the ebay url, wouldn't ppl think, now that the url is there, why doesn't he buy it of ebay?

You would have to have a second person/identity point out the url.

Of course. I forgot to add that.

True, but that's why you have to find a way to covertly, stealthily link them together in a way where many people will think "Oh, I'm glad I found this" and you're supposed to pretend (as the buyer) that you haven't noticed anything. For example, people might think that the buyer probably just didn't notice the comments. Something like that.

If that's how you see it, don't do it. It is blackhatworld after all, and I'm just putting the idea out there for people who don't mind using it. The point is that there's nothing illegal involved, nothing you can go to jail for as long as you make it seem like you're coming from two different IPs.

I'm at work and ebay is filtered so I can't access ebay for another 6 hours when I get home would be what you would say or something to that effect.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but you're supposed to link to the ebay salespage FROM another place, like craigslist, where you're putting up the buying page.

That idea was on 'only fools and horses' about 20 years ago.

If I remember right.. a guy was offering a rare car for sale which didn't interest Delboy until next day someone said they needed one real bad and would pay anything. So Delboy goies and buys it then offers it to the other guy don't need it anymore.

The guy offering the car and the guy claiming to want the car were connected.

Delboy paid over the odds for a rare old banger.

CL wouldn't work because you can't have a running dialog... you need to do this in some kind of forum. You would be X and your alter ego would be Y.

X says I am looking for a potatoe person figurine and you describe it in detail... Y comes on a few minutes later and says it's on ebay here is the url and also posts a pic of said item.

X comes back and says "I'm at work and My boss has filters on our computers here at work and I can't access ebay from here so I have to wait until I get home which won't be for a few hours... I sure how it is still there because I would gladly pay double for it."

Some forum guy buys it and puts it up on ebay for double and sends you the url a few hours later in the same forum.

Or set up a website for a fake "Product Sourcing Company".

Put an ad in the jobs section looking for a "Product Sourcer" or some other imaginative job title, "freelance product sourcer, paid on commission..."

Give the employee info on where to souce items, ebay, google search, your own adwords campign ;)..

Put up your own wanted ads.

Play the long con, Give them a $100 commission on some item and then go for a $5k item of artwork.

    Very unethical.

    old school scam.

have a friend walk to a store with a dog, ask someone outside to watch the dog whall she goes inside.

you walk up to the person watching the dog for your friend and get excited, tell him you will pay $20k for the dog, don't let him say its not his dog, just keep talking, hand him a business card with a fake phone number on it and leave because your "in a hurry".

your friend now comes back out for her dog, and she will tell the man that the dog is a huge problem and she cant keep it, and she just wants to sell it. watch the man offer to buy it.

blackhat and illegal are 2 different things.

I think that with a twist, this could work with a pretty high success rate.. Just gotta develop the method enough.

    That's an interesting twist.

Yeah, that's a great idea with the "I can't access ebay right now" thing. Good thinking!

Yep, this is certainly an old idea. However, done online, the risks are really small and the potential revenue because of the amount of people is great.

Guess where I got the idea o_O

Yep, that's the IRL way to do it. The difference online is that it's much, much harder to prove that the two people are affiliated, and there's a much greater amount of people. I don't really believe it's illegal, only blackhat. Keep in mind that blackhat is all about those kinds of things that are borderline illegal, while not really illegal they are unethical.

I guess you have no clue about what blackhat really is.
Back in the days blackhat was all about illegal shit.

Now people think they're blackhat just because they use automated tools for their sites. Thats just pathetic.

    old scam. definitely illegal.

the thing is, it's not illegal to deceive people, and it's not illegal to sell things, but when you put them together then it becomes fraud.

lowering your chance of getting caught doesn't make it any more legal.

Technically, it's illegal. But there's no way you can get caught.. So in my head, if there's no risk then it's legal. But it all depends on your way of thinking, obviously. I'd still like to give this a try, but I'm too lazy to get it done..

I doubt it is illegal... it may be immoral but what law on the books would say that you can't tell a lie about wanting a product but are unable to buy it at the moment.

It's deceptive but there is no law to stop a person from doing this.
