Translated content, Good for SEO?

I am using Google translate in order to get content from other languages such as French and Spanish. Since Google does a pretty good job in translation, and I pay pretty good attention that websites I am using are not already translated on English, how good is this in terms of SEO? Also is it bad selling this kind of content since I made some good money by selling it to other people. Of course I trow in few changes and some images, just to make content paragraphs look different and have my writing style.

google knows this trick, i think it saves translated content and when you try to use it on your site you may be penalized

I must admit I didnt notice big changes after penguin, but in same time I am not using 100% same content, I really trow in changes. but as first two members suggested, I will switch to another translator, will see which one is better then Google.

Some tips to consider...

When translating do not use G translator...

When grabbing images use another SE to open up the images...

It takes just the same amount of time but gives just a little more cover because if you do this anyway why use G and put what you are doing at risk...

I am not saying this is 100% safe one can never say that - but to me as a guy who likes it simple - it makes common sense...

I really doubt that google saves and then compares all translated versions of written content that's on the web..

Could just be me though..

Is your translated content readable, and does it make sense? Is it significantly different than what you copy?

Google has implemented "hummingbird" which has a specific purpose to understand readable text and correlate it. So, there goes all your translated content. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Google has lots of big brains.

For me , it not good for seo if directly for you money blog. Google still know if you translate content using G translate

I made a site around 8 weeks ago using diet niche keywords. I have 600 articles on the site now and they are all English articles translated by G Translator into my sites language. I've just made it to the bottom of Google page 1.

I think Google will define this stuff. if you edit the translated articles, than it can work maybe!

Google Translate, like many other automatized translation services, is a fairly rough tool to begin with. For instance there are plenty of terms and phrases in English that don't exist at all in, let's say, Italian. What you end up with, is basically the equivalent of spam.

Why don't you translate by hand if you can't write your own articles ? At least you'll provide some quality. Even if translators are better and better these days, it still shitty content. At least when I'm doing EN > Foreign, it's readable but don't make that much sense to visitors.

Pretty sure it's OK for Web 2.0 though..

I've already try google French translation for some good articles in english but the translation is poor and the ideas and the meaning is not the same so i stop it and made translation manually and it give more good traffic from French counties as France, Belgium...
so i suggest you to find some translator to do the job and to have more high quality content.

We have run some test about this;

translate from EN to DE and back to EN (Google translate and then Bing translator) was pretty good even after Penguin, but the quality of the text is not the best, you can try to change the DE language to something "better"

or first english text spin (just LITTLE!!) and then translate 2 times, but you will see the quality will be poor

If you translate by your own skills something from English to other language, or the other way around - you will probably end up with pretty decent unique content material. However, you should still check it with Copyscape or some free software in order to be sure your final product is completely unique. But with this method the quality of the end product when it comes to SEO purposes will be determined by two things - 1st your writing and translating skills 2nd if you translate from a source from which many people translate, your content may end up being not so unique after all. I mean if you translate news from CNN for instance, from which many foreign news sites get's information you - your content won't be the most unique in the world. But if you translate some personal blog for instance( and I am not suggesting or urging you to do that, mind you) you may end up with more unique content at the end.

Okay, i see some people talking about articles "not making sense".

Sure, they won't make sense, if you're a retard!

If you're translating TO a language you speak fluently, then you edit the translation for readability and uniqueness... You know, change some words around, change the structure, correct grammar, insert something extra...

And about google knowing that your content is translated... Well, there are how many? 250+ different languages being used in the world at the moment? I may be way off with the number, but do you really think that google keeps a record of each article found on the internet in 250+ different languages? :dunno:

I don't know, maybe, but i highly doubt it...
