Traffic going down question

I started an affiliate blog a few months ago. Traffic was very small but steadily growing. (it's my first site ever with monetization purpose)

A few weeks ago I finally got my 3rd amazon sale, so I got API access. The amazon affiliate program says that you can't
use their images: you have to use their image link and refresh it every 24 hours. As I want to play the long term game I've chosen to abide all Amazon rules, I coded a system that does that, and worked (it's annoying to replace AVIFs with JPGs but due to amazon superpowers, core vitals even slightly improved)

My problem is that 4-5 days ago I updated all the pages on my site to link directly to amazon images, and I've seen a massive
drop of impressions on GSC (like 70% and going down). The pages I've checked that have been crawled by google seems to have a massive impact, almost to 0, while pages not crawled yet seem to have a slight reduction, but not massive.

Is it possible that my pages are devaluated on the eyes of google because instead of hosting my own images, I'm using amazon links to the images? As I said it's my first site and looking as everything goes back to 0 looks absolutely depressing.

Yeah, that is really the risk of updating your pages - almost all of them.

That could be the reason but maybe you are just as affected as a lot of users complaining about traffic drop or particularly de-ranking of their sites. Give it a few days.
