I’m quite new on IG thingy and yes you can call me a newbie on IG. Doesn’t matter, we’re all still learning somehow. I shared these tips based on my own experiences. And no this is not something new/original. Plenty of people have been doing this on IG. Tho I don't see it's been shared here yet.
I’m not gonna talk about anything but captions and content strategy here. And if you are struggling with low engagement rate, then read on. This might work best for niche accounts. If you have brands or influencer accounts, you should probably do this on your child accounts.
Captions Strategy
So how do you make people leave comments on your page? Let’s say you have a motivational/quotes page, use the caption below to boost your engagement rate and followers.
Comment “I
MONEY” letter by letter and follow @account2 to win a FREE 2-hours shoutout! The winner will be announced tomorrow! Good luck!
You can also offering 24-hours shoutout or whatever you like. Set your comment as Top comment and IG will mix the comments for you. Watch dozens of comments rolling in. Don’t forget to announce the winner the next day and add it into your caption to gain more comments and also to make people believe that you’re not doing a fake giveaway like other accounts did. You might wanna do this once or twice a week and see how it affects your engagement rate. Page like @factidiot use this caption on each of their posts but they never giveaway free shoutouts which I don’t recommend. This might work for other niches too. Just be creative! Here is my result with this caption.
This caption below can also boost your engagement rate and followers too. You may use it while offering cheap paid shoutouts and to support mother-child accounts.
98% can't pass this test!
1. Hold your breath
2. Double tap
and Follow @account1 @account2
3. Comment "all done"
4. Breathe out
It's interesting that people actually doing this silly things and comment all done, LOL! Make sure you accompanied this caption with an emotional image related to your niche to increase likes. Here is my result with this caption.
Content Strategy
You can use this pic strategy using Canva shared by @IG Professor https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/guide-instagram-engagment-is-a-key.1103192/ or use pic collage app like InShot to get the same thing in just a few seconds. Instead of putting number 1 and 2 on the image, try to be more creative like using comparison words or using yes/no questions. Let’s say you have a celeb fan page, you can make something like this
And then ask “Which one is better? Comment your thoughts!” in the caption. Be creative!
For videos, make a custom thumbnail to increase CTR and don’t forget to watermark your videos too in case someone repost them. I’m using InShot app again to get the job done.
Here my results using the strategy above

Both accounts are three months old. No bots. Organic growth. Engagement rate is quite high due to small amount of followers.
I know this isn't something to most of you, but as a beginner I think this is a good start for me. And yes, this thing works for boosting your engagement rate.
If you have any feedbacks please share your thoughts below, I'd love to hear them. Apologize if I said something wrong. Rachmaninoff over and out!
