Time required to write 1500 word article

I recently started writing blogs to post on my portfolio website. I want to work as a freelance writer when I learn 'enough'.
Although I like writing and I am writing personal journals for a long time. I find no difficulty in writing those.
But when I write articles on topic where I need to do research for everything because that topic is very new to me, it's overwhelming. I think I waste too much time in content research, as I want to know 'everything', so that I can make quality content. But it takes too much time, like hours. And also english is my second language, I find it problematic to put all my thoughts into words.
To create and edit 1 article of 1500 words, I am putting 3 day to 4 days.
I want to ask from freelance writer, how much time you need to write an article on a completely new topic. And how do you write it fast, but with quality and without rewriting.

To create and edit 1 article of 1500 words, I am putting 3 day to 4 days is really slow in all honesty.
Even with research and the such like a couple of days for a brand new topic at most.

If it's something you already know about a day.

It depends on the level of research and topic.
 
Out of pure interest, I once wrote a similar article (1.5-2k. Words), I was sitting with it for about 4 hours. Of course, I did a topic research, rewrote some ideas from other articles etc.

Funnily enough, in terms of performance my article was much better than from freelancers I hired. It had good rankings in Google and brought me many organic visitors :D
 
use text to speech software & edit later,
if you're really interested to be a writer, this will help you to make articles x10 times faster,
but you have to practice for some time before getting it to work properly

That's the other thing, using text to speech saves time especially if you're able to rattle off the content if you already know the topic inside and out.
 
if you wanna become a content writer than you need to improve your efficiency. It will automatically improve with time but stay focused. Read only what is important for your article don't get carried away with extra information. However don't worry about spending extra time at the beginning quality would matter a lot. Content writing is very competitive field.

This is helping. I am just starting out but with time I will learn about the industry as well as about the writing.
 
Depends on the mood I'm in and the topic but it usually takes me around 3-4 hours for an article of that length.
 
1-2 hours max, we all are writing for the google algo and not for the user as the algo determines what the user sees. So if top 10 articles are just bs, your article has to include that bs, cuz that is what google is ranking. no point in giving well researched articles if google will never rank it, even if it is the most useful for the user.
 
You'll get faster mate, a few months ago it was taking me 6-7 hours to do about 2k properly fully researched etc, now I can get it done In a couple of hours max. The more you do it the faster, and better you will become. Good luck!
 
Try not to write and edit at the same time
I think you're investing too much of your time in research
1500w is usually a one-day gig.

Wow, that is exactly what I have seen today morning. I was writing an article, I had some idea about what should I include in the blog to make it most valuable. So I create the outline with thorough sub heads, but when I searched it in Google, literally no blog post was talking about what's necessary and they were all filled with same generic content rewritten again and again. I even saw a blog in featured snippet that was very poorly written and had grammatical errors but they were all fulfilling the seo criteria.

Yes, topics are new to me that's why, I am putting too much time in research. I should do something about it.

You are dead wrong. If top 10 articles are BS and you write really good content (for the user) AND at the same time optimizing for search engines, you will beat all top 10 competitors within weeks. What happens most often is that really awesome writers who truly care for the user have no clue how to optimize articles for SE-s. Learn how to do both and you will outrank everyone.

@OP: Keep doing what you are doing. For a completely new topic, 3-4 days is fine. That's because the research that you did will help you write way more articles in the future without going through the research phase again. Also keep in mind a golden rule: writing an article takes 20% of the time, 80% of it is spent on research. If you do the opposite, you will end up with garbage.

I'm sorry if some dudes here find me offensive or against the herd (of sheeps here), but I can practically write 1500 words in 3-4 hours max. I had been writing for 7 months now, for a client in Israel. The niche is competitive and he barely gives a content brief, to speak of. All I get from him, is the question he needs the answer to. I own an agency as well and I train my guys to follow the exact process:

Research for 30-45 mins, and scan through and read all the damn materials you come across > put down notes in a notebook and go for a quick walk around > come back and may be, have a coffee or cigar and start dumping all the contents you have in mind, plus some other research materials as well > as I said dump it, and I meant it. Don't think about grammar and stuff just put down what you found and researched, in the form of content and again go out for a walk > come back and focus completely on editions. This time, make sure to focus since you're going to get the final product at this stage. I guess this process takes no more than 5 hours at most

I might be wrong, as a few gurus on BHW thinks they know it all

Thanks a lot for your advice, I am not looking to downgrade my quality for quantity. I wanna go long. Even if I make less money, that is totally okay.
 
1500 words - about 1-2hours, depends on how well you know the topic
 
I've always had the same problem. It takes me forever to write anything, especially if I can't seem to find the information im looking for when doing research. If im afraid I'm explaining something wrong I can really spend a while on the article.

Now, if I know what I'm talking about and don't need to do a lot of research then I can write pretty fast. Nowhere near as fast as others on here but I'm convinced most people are writing poor content.

My goal is to keep providing the best content possible for every article until I dominate the niche. Maybe it'll take me longer to start making money but oh well, in the end I'll have the best site in the niche.
