This is why I don't get drunk

I drink only when I want to enhance my happiness, but never to ease the pain.
I've had my fair (and even unfair) share of pain, but through my experience I know that (at least for me), drinking enhances my feelings. So, if I'm happy, drinking enhances my happiness, but if I'm in pain, it enhances my pain.

Hence, my decision to not to resort to drinking when in pain.

Let me preface this story by saying I've only ever been this drunk one other time in my life. I don't get drunk. I barely drink alcohol. But yesterday I really, really needed a drink.

2 years ago I found out my best friend got fired from her job for having an inappropriate relationship with a 15 year old boy. We've been best friends since we were 10 years old. For the past 2 years I have held out hope that by inappropriate relationship, they meant something other than having sex with the boy.

I ignored all of the evidence: text messages, witness testimonials, FB posts. I just didn't want to believe that any of this was true. She was being investigated by the police and the federal government, and I still just wanted it to be nothing but a mistake.

She was like my sister.

Last week I talked to her (ex) husband and he told me it was all true. He got custody of the kids in the divorce because of the nature of her offense.

Last night I finally lost it.

I was screaming, crying, throwing shit. I completely trashed my room. Then I went out and bought 12 cinnamon rolls and 4 AriZona canned drinks. That's my comfort food. I wandered around for 4 hours after that in 105 degree heat. Just aimless wandering. I kind of just checked out completely. I wound up by the STL airport in Terminal 1.

I came home, cracked open a can of AriZona and pulled out half a bottle of sake. My plan was just to get drunk enough to get a good buzz going so I could just calm down. I was tired from all the crying, heat and stress. I just wanted to go to sleep.

You may have noticed I was online complaining that I was out of sake. I drank it all. Sake tastes great by itself, and when it's mixed with other stuff it's easier for me to handle. Usually I will have like a shot in 20oz of some kind of sugary drink. But I finished off the entire bottle.

I woke up completely covered in cinnamon rolls.

They were stuck to me like glue. Pieces of it was all over my bed and my back. Some of it was in my hair. A piece of one was stuck to my butt. Icing was all over my stomach and under one of my arms. I had cinnamon filling between my toes. I guess I opened a bunch of them (they were store brand) and I was half eating them or something. I have no idea. I just know I was itchy and sticky as fuck.

You know what woke me up?

My cat. She was licking/eating the cinnamon filling between my toes.

I fell out of bed like a complete drunk - face first. I started calling for help. After getting appropriately chastised (seriously, that was incredibly irresponsible of me) my family helped me clean up. Everything on my bed was ruined. We just threw it all out. I was naked, so my clothes were spared, but now I have buy all new bed clothes (pillows included) and take the cat to the vet. Cinnamon is toxic to animals and I have to make sure she didn't ingest an obscene amount of it. It could kill her.

This espresso I'm drinking is helping a lot. So is the 1200mg of ibuprofen I took. But I've still got a bit of a hangover. I'm sitting here waiting for the vet to open up so we can take in the cat.

Now I can add this to the list of reasons why I don't drink.

You are now free to troll me.

Well, you kind made my day. No offence, but your story was a bit amusing. I do, however, remember how it felt waking up after drinking. Also, sort of quit drinking. The exception is one or two beers occasionally.

dont let this ruin your idea of alcohol forever, just stay clear of sake in future.

I'm not gonna quit drinking entirely. I'm just not gonna get drunk or drink when I'm upset. I love sake. Not gonna give it up after one bad experience that was my fault to begin with. ;)

Are you trying to be funny? Bc you failed. Guys share their stupid guy problems on here all the time. You don't tell them to only share their problems with other guys.

If you're going to be a dick, leave my gender out of it.

You do know that 90% of the people here are male, right? Another one for my ignore list 'cause I am sick of your troll posts/threads. A male Ste Fishkin is enough for this world....

If you want to escape a problem the best solution is to create another problem....like you did.Now the following question comes in : do you feel better if you did this? If yes then let's be happy, you did the right thing :) ....if not then let's be happy because you just found out that it is not the best way to deal a problem. Cheers! ;)

Sounds sensible.

Sorry about your friend & that you went through that. I had a habit of getting wasted quite often, however, as it's been said, drinking when you're upset doesn't lead to a very good outcome... except if you're mildly upset and go for shots and hook up probably.

Yeah, cause I totally care that you're putting me on your ignore list.

90% of this forum may be male, but that doesn't mean you have to be an asshole to the 10% that isn't. I can express my problems here the same as anyone else. Insulting my gender has jackshit to do with what I posted. You got a problem with women, take it up with your mother. That's probably where it started.

I'm the chick, but you're the one acting like a bitch.

0 fucks dude.

Why does gender matter on the internet?

It doesn't, but the irony is real. If I ran around saying men are stupid idiots this entire forum would jump down my throat. But someone insults a woman and gets likes on their posts.

And because I chose to defend myself, he decided to put me on his ignore list. Guess he can't hang.

I don't wonder why women don't express themselves on this forum. There are some real assholes on here. But I can take it.

Come at me bros.

Why does gender matter on the internet?

Don't try to put this in another way mate, you know exactly what I meant. At least I don't go crying to my parents that I forgot to a/b test my landing page before launching a campaign, simply because they have no idea of such things.

I grew up watching my mother's sorrows living in a tough world where she fought harder than any man I ever saw existed, and she never got drunk, not even once. If you still want to play that "Feminist/Anti-Feminist" game with me, be my guest.

Last time I checked, this is a free world - if the woman wants to get drunk to forget the pain, then so be it, why do you have to interfere?
