I personally would have just pulled the money out and shutdown the company and ignore the lawsuit while finding a better business friendly place to open up.

Re the blog post I linked to? If so - yes, I agree entirely.
I read it and it shows how Philippines is so overrated for outsourcing. What is the point of hiring cheap labor if they have so much rights and legal protection.
I have an office in the Philippines - a whole team, in fact.
HOWEVER - I've done it through a staff leasing company that provides *everything* I need, not just the bodies. They provide the floor space, the computers, stupid-fast internet, the supervisory staff, HR, snack rooms, on site pharmacy and clinic, locker rooms, etc.
It still ends up being 70% cheaper than a prime country. So all things said, I think it just matters how you execute (as does anything).
In my case, my liability is limited to paying my fixed-rate invoice each month. That's it.
I wouldn't do what Joe and Justin did - it's too much first hand exposure and unnecessary administrative overhead.
Hey Tony - I completely agree with you. If we were starting over, we'd take a similar approach to the one you've taken.
Since writing this article, we've sold our outsourcing company (including the office), shut down our Philippines corporation, and we're paying our team directly. We don't need a physical office any longer, so our entire team works remotely.
We're heading down to Davao next week for a month, actually, to hang out with them a bit. Then we'll be off to some other location so we can let them get back to work!
I too shall be in Davao overlapping the end of your stay by about a week - if you see a well built Aussie guy mouthing off drunkenly at Claude because his creme brulee serving sizes are too small, come say hi to me![]()
Im bored at home, can i come too ?Wow - really? We should meet up! We'll be there until June 13th and a visit to Claude's at least once is definitely going to happen. We're all big fans of the cheesecake, heh.
I know others that are in town currently and would be happy to connect you with them if you're keen. They hang out on a GroupMe channel, mostly. PM me for details and we can set it up!

So with those Staff Leasing companies, can they be hired to do any kind of work a long as its legal? Like could I hire them to do write articles and news stories for a PBN of News Sites?
