As we all know, in recent days Youtube has taken a pounding from the assortment of free bots that have been released.

My question is, what will be Youtube's response?
->Will it be a simple case of patching the loophole to prevent mobile views?
->Or will there be more serious ramifications, such as the potential for retrospective punishment, for example Videos deemed to have been botted being banned?

I didn't jump on the 'botting bandwagon', but in the past I have bought views to get my videos to where they are in Youtube- so I worry if Youtube starts to dig....

Am I needlessly worrying? Will all mobile views be patched, or just the recent bots? What's your view on this in general?

    That was my concern too...

I left a project that I was working half ways unfinished because I had to see what was going to happen when the dust settles..

I can tell you that I got a video flagged and then my account banned (but somehow I'm still collecting onAdsense. I'll probably lose that money and the account too lol. The video was getting like 60k views a day for 3 days, then they dropped the ban hammer :(

Fair enough... Unfortunately for me my projects are long finished (and my only source of revenue), so if Youtube decide to throw their weight around, I could be ruined.

I can tell you this. Some moron canadian under the name Colapack has 6 subs, 8 videos and 2 million+ views. Whats worse, hes got 3 vids on the top page for Youtube Canada. Talk about kids abusing this, I hope Colapack gets the ban hammer asap.

On a separate note, They wont patch it. They'll just change the top page algorithm and feature video algorithm. Views will come in but it wont be the deciding factor for video suggestion.

So you think it will still be ok for people to use mobile views, but in moderation? And will the ppl that have botted hugely have their vids stay popular? These are unsure times in the world of YouTube, it's hard to read whats going to happen...

My rough prediction is that they'll keep banning the sh!t out of spammy botted videos and newly uploaded legit videos botted in an undeniable way, but they won't touch old legit videos with botted views (the exception being if they are inflated of ten of millions of views in few days).

In the meantime, they'll find the way to stop 'robbing' mobile views, or at least make it hard enough for the average noob to exploit them.

I believe that went into effect yesterday, March 14th, 2012. Now more emphasis is placed on "user engagement" in determining rank and getting a video to the frontpage, as well as shown as related. Part of that "user engagement" is now how long the video is watched for, which makes mobile views useless for rankings.

One bot can't get patched, They all do the same thing so if mobile views are patched, All the bots are dead.

But will they still show up as a view?

I feel like its a Tom and Jerry cartoon and Tom just caught Jerry by the tail, but Jerry is going to pull out an old time bottle of soda water and spray Tom and run to safety... if that makes sense.

If i got some methods of giving others what they want on facebook / twitter / youtube.. and i want to make a video about what i do on youtube... is it safe ? Should i remove the video? Could i get arrested , or only get a ban on the account where i posted the video ?
    Thanks

Nice find, but published 70 days ago. Haha SpK knows someone who has made a living off selling botted views. I bet he's made a couple of $ too!

Also didnt know he was only 16, big respect for bossing from a young age.
