The Understanding of YT SEO

This is all based on how I have been ranked highly in YT and solely that out of numerous experiments.

Titles:
  1. Titles must have keywords in the first 3-5 words
  2. Titles with special characters such as () ! / ? - , these rank higher
  3. adding the date normally helps depending on what the video is over
  4. clickbait helps so, so much but only use something that pertains to the subject
Example: Get Rich Quick! - Smartest ways to get money (2018)

#HASHTAGS :
  1. USE NO MORE THAN 5-7 HASHTAGS The reason behind this is youtube wont understand what the video is about meaning that overusing them will prove useless.
  2. Use the keywords in your first hashtag- #get rich quick do this because the first one means the most.
  3. Use key words and word variations in the 2nd and 3rd hashtags - #fastest ways to get rich or #get rich fast
  4. Inspect the source of other yt videos that pertain to the subject and find their hashtags and use them
These help you get suggested in other videos that are in the same subject so you will have a higher CR- Click-through Rate

Thumbnail :
  • Use large letters because a lot of people use their phones
  • Use bright colors that don't compliment YT colors - don't use red white or black, try not to use common colors either
  • Use bight colors to stand out in the search results and get a high CR
Descriptions :
  • Beginning
    • Give a insight into the next video so people will want to subscribe to see more
  • Middle
    • Be very descriptive in your descriptions giving All of the viewers the same information that's in the video in case you have deaf people that watch, and some people prefer to read it instead - it still counts as a view when they click on the video even if they just read the description so don't worry about it.
  • End
    • Advertise yourself here
    • Give a thanks to the viewers
    • give people credits for music and things of that sort so you don't get copyright strikes.
I put the descriptions in this order because psychologically people will already know that you only want to advertise if you put the end first, and the beginning pulls people in to see more.​

Upload:TIME :

  • don't post when the main-streamers do.
  • I perfer to make several videos and, then schedule each one the same time either everyday or every week depending on how consistent you want to be.
Video Length:

YT values longer videos however, people usually don't watch videos longer then 16 minutes to keep people captivated try to keep the video anywhere between 11-14

Comments:

  • stay engaged reply to as many comments as you can
  • talk with other YT's to see if they want to comment on your videos and you comment on theirs - it helps boost the video rank
  • Ask a specific question at the end of the video and ask it again in the comments section to get more engagement
The more engaged the community is on your videos the higher you get ranked



Extra

INTRO:
A lot of people don't use intro's because a lot of people don't like them and, a lot of people do.

KEEP IT SHORT 1-3 seconds.

The more subscribers, viewers and watch time you previously had also plays a role in your ranking.

YOU WILL NEVER BE AT THE TOP NO MATTER IF YOU HAVE EVERYTHING THAT I SAID IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST VIDEO AND YOU DON't HAVE ANY SUBSCRIBERS- unless you do something completely outside the box that no ones ever done a video for before.

However if you followed what I gave you you will be highly ranked - within the top 200 videos at most if you followed my steps I even created a fresh account and tested it out with a video and I was placed on the 73rd video going down the searches without having any previous viewers or subscribers.

the reason is if you have subscribers you already get watchers and watchers mean more watch time hence you will be at the top of the search board easier however with no watch time you will stay in the position you are unless a lot of random people go down the list and watch you, thats the way it is. correct me if I'm wrong please.

of course you will still be high in the search board if you followed all the steps

Nice share. Intros are very important. I prefer doing a voice intro of the video with some background music.
 
I don't agree with you about the 5-7 hashtags.
Because I have videos with a lot of hashtags and they rank for 10-12 hashtags in top 20.
You must know that youtube value the videos with good amount of watch time. The best thing nowadays is to get suggested.

Thanks for your opinion this is just the way I've learned from experiences as seen above, the reason I say 5-7 is also because when hashtags are made it's telling the se what the vids about and if you put something else it may interfere, now of course it's fine if you can get other specific hashtags. But I find that a hastle. When I write things saying " understanding " it means my understanding. this post was mainly to get others to respond to learn more.
 
What would you recommend to do if you are starting with a new channel and want to rank for somewhat competitive keywords. Like rank a video under a popular video (song name)?

I tried buying views and likes for this but it didn't work out and it doesn't feel right. However, what would you do if you wanted to do that?

you could use sites to find the tags or use inspect element to find the tags the big channels use that have the same song, use some of theirs in avideo and it willl be in the suggested list of their video. from there the rank has to rise on its own depending on click through rank views and watch time. another thing would be to change the title up a bit so that it isnt with all of the songs your talking about. I would very much suggest that you collaborate with some people to get comments on your videos.

Yea, I already have that google chrome extension that lets you see their tags. I've been kinda scared to try to upload a video again because I know it's hard to rank, especially under a very popular song (music video) for example Drake's new song.
I don't find myself collaborating with anybody (music artist) anytime soon since that'll cost a lot of money. So would you suggest like advertising your channel/first video on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to get a few subscribers? I mean if you're starting with a new channel with 0 subscribers, it's quite hard to get out there.

So I've been stuck for a few weeks feeling like I won't ever rank unless some celebrity shouts out my first video or something but that's highly unlikely. I'll try to take your advice though.

You dont need money to collaborate. ive collabed with plenty of people because they know that if he/she comments on my stuff it means ill comment on theirs and they'll get more viewers. just go and email a lot of people asking them and telling them how you can help them if they collab. pm me
