The Ultimate PBN Footprints Checklist

Every "IF" in your message is a reality, not a IF. They *are* spying on everything and it is 100% legal. When you agree to their terms you use their stuff for "free" in exchange for this data.

And they are already paying the EU billions in fees all the time. How many times have they been fined already.

Classic write up, just read through everything, and you haven't missed a beat.

Pretty good stuff, just with a bit of extra paranoia. Using Chrome browsing and Gmails for registration is pretty safe - not because Google is to be trusted, but because the scandal if is found out that they are using mails/browsers to spy on people can cost them literally billions.

Do you know the percentage of people doing SEO and using PBNs? Probably something like .0000000001 percent of Gmail and Chrome users. Google using info from Chrome and Gmail to out SEO cheaters (because that is what PBNs are) would cost them Zero $$$.

Anyone who uses any Gmail or any Google tools for working on your PBNs or for any SEO activity for that matter is basically an idiot.

Remember just because you are paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you.

A couple of things I would add to your list.

1. Build non-PBN links to your site first. I get my sites ranking first and add my network links. One it means I need to use less of them and two my PBN links are lost in the noise of all the other links going to my site.

2. When talking about patterns and making less of a footprint go even farther outside the box and use different platforms and site types. For instance some of my network sites are eCommerce sites and forums which decreases the footprint of my network.

’Common domain registrant’ - a SEO consult told me that it doesn’t matter that you had the real user registrant in Whois since google is connected to ICAN. We have 30 PBN links with the same registrant from a network of over 250 PBN sites with same registrant.

Are you 100% sure this is bad?
Why would you not assume it is bad? Don't ever leave any footprints if you can help it.

Paranoia is good in our business indeed. However there is limits for everything. Chrome + Gmails is perfectly safe exactly because .0000000001 percent are using PBNs. Google need to spy 100% of those probably more than a billion people to find out a few thousand that are using PBNs. So when users are getting more and more concern about their privacy, medias looks for scandals and governments are just waiting to put more regulations and billions of fees for the corporations do you really think Google are going to risk that much to catch you using Chrome/Gmail info? Yeah sure.

Impressive one , bookmarked the thread as I will be using the info for my next internal project.

Nice tips. I missed these, although was very much aware.. I will update my blog post with these. thanks!! :)

Free Internet, everyone can believe whatever he wants. :)

It's not really a matter of faith.

You either know or you don't. If you set up a proxy and intercept all the communications between your network and elsewhere, you'd know. Clearly you didn't, ever.

Is this from Matthew Woodward's recently released course about making PBN the right way, where other people pay like $500 (i think)?

I mean some of these are very good points but then I looked at some and thought.. what.

But some really are just hearsay that can't be backed up with any evidence.

If you have a small PBN and diversify your project's backlink profile with other types of links, then most of the times you don't need to worry too much about footprints. Avoiding PBN footprints is a must, but remember - the more effort you put into it, the more expensive it will be for you (time is worth too!). There is this thing called budget, that is also important in SEO. It's a numbers game, you need some amount of good PBN links that work, are indexed and don't leave footprints for G. In general, as long as PBN sites stay indexed, you're good. So why would you want to put more money and time into it than necessary?

To sum up the long list, IMO most people who own a small PBN, should just make sure to do the following:
- different hosting, IP, nameservers
- different registrar, whois information (privacy)
- different CMS (wp, html etc.) and theme / design / code
- niche relevant unique and readable content
- natural looking site with images / videos, subpages (contact)
- different anchors pointing to MS together with few different authority links

Long to-do lists can have correct information, but may often show the task to be more complicated than it actually is.

Don't think I do my PBNs carelessly, it's the opposite - I often feel I put too much love into it. And they work great!

I never interlink pbns to 2 money sites but damn that temptation tho, im probably gonna start doing it just to 2 sites on different hosting i cant help it sadomasochism

Spot on, someone gets it.. all about ROI.

Exactly. You can sniff the packets are they're clearly monitoring everyone. Which is why it may be risky, and our aim is to minimize risk and maximize profits. :)

I did see that course and to be honest... this post is like 100x better. And its free. :)

Sure, but Google wont tell us anything meaty about how to do SEO other than drop hints by mistake at times in hangouts etc... leave aside what holes you need to plug for a PBN. Therefore, we need to make assumptions on how they are backtracking and finding PBNs and de-indexing sites. Some of the stuff is taken when others who got de-indexed reported what hole must have been left open etc.

Thanks. Yes, this is a good list for noobs with a small PBN. Power builders could follow the entire list of items. Thanks!!

I would not get tempted. Too much of a risk of the algo squeezing its way into your network through a hole you left.

I must say this is one of the best threads for PBN owners.

Thanks, glad you liked it! - there're more coming, just opt-in and stay tuned! :)
