In my opinion social signals are very valuable when it comes to SEO in 2013 and you can't really over-do it.
Make a facebook fanpage for your site if suitable in any way for your niche, a twitter and just share every post, tweet and try and get some followers/fans.

Thanks Danny for an awesome post.I read you telling that ya fairly easy to outrank e-commerce sites..how do you rate the competition if you see lots of web 2 and social sites in top 10 for your product?

I see squidoo, Pinterest and other web 2.0s for my keyword..

I think the answer is fairly simple - a PInterest Pin vs an Optimized Site - its no contest if done right - outranking Amazon itself is fairly easy as well - assuming you do everything correctly.

Themes I used are all in BHW Download Theme Section

Press Releases just search in Google for PR Services - I don't use anything from BHW .. I don't want to just name 1 that I use - as then everyone will just use the same one - its better for everyone if their is some variety here ... same goes in general for everything in the thread -- find ways to make your site unique / your back link building and most importantly find great buying keywords and get great content for them.

I've previously tried the 1000 links from day 1 approach, back when I was a complete newbie, not a good experience. Now I'm taking your long-term approach, sustainability is what I'm looking for.

This might be a silly question for you, and I might already know the answer, but it's something I haven't been able to figure out yet, and I want to make sure I don't fuck up this aspect of link building.

We all know that high ranking sites like yahoo, top blogs etc = HQ backlinks.

So my question is, in order to rank your sites, do you focus on mainly ranking your main site mynichesite,com + a couple of posts/pages/articles, or do you try to rank as many different sections/posts of your respective niche sites on the places you backlink from?

Personally - I try to rank the site .. as well as my content - so if I have 6 great problem solving articles and 2 great reviews - then I mix and match to those 9 places - keeping in mind to control your anchor text ... some people do categories as well - it's up to you really - I have done that of sites with less content but not on sites with alot of content.

I just create a TXT File with the URL's for each site - and then copy/paste into software.

Are all your reviews positive ? Obviously you'd avoid bad products but you still can't give them all a 5 star rating, can you ?
And also, how many reviews on average do you have for a site ?

I've just added my first review and last night first article to a site. Looking forward to see how it goes for me, already have a second site that I'm working on as well, thanks to your amazing threads :D
 
Can I just add one more important thing - or something I think is important.

IM has become my full-time job now - so I'm in front of the PC 7 days a week and I'm scheduling my link building and setting up campaigns - everyday
whether its for these sites or client sites.

So my link building from 4months + is very consistent / steady and ongoing ... I think that's why my sites tend to perform above average to what alot of other people I compete against are doing. It is not that time consuming for me anymore compared to when I started because I have a routine - I have multiple softwares and alot of it is copy/pasting.

Anyway I hope this gives you some sense of how this progresses from a small sideshow to a business.... and if you really want to move past the $400-$600 mark - then you really need to be well organized / have a routine but also work on minimizing the amount of input time ---> and maximizing the $$ return ... you do that by testing/tweaking and analyzing.

Thats a good question .. and what I do is tend to pick different price points.

So using the wireless router example ---- best wireless router for $40 / best wireless router for $80 and best wireless router for $180

because for every person who wants the best - there are also alot of Sales for the lower priced item.

You might say don't you target expensive items - isn't that counterproductive ? well I pick $500 $1000 and $1500 then I have 5-10 accessories that range from $20-$200 -- because typically high priced items needs accessories - and sometimes that can be a Book not a consumer product.

Alternatively you may want 3 sites -- Budget Wireless Routers 2013 / Best Home Wireless Routers 2013 / High Performance Wireless Routers 2013

and then compare similar priced products and provide rankings - well in that case you have to make a decision on Star Ratings -- but this is on you to figure out.
 
From my point of view and from my experience, people who are willing to pay $120 for a wireless router in 24h, in the most of the cases will be interested in better version if the price differs by no more than 20-25%.

The 24H cookie is a problem but it helps us to target better our customers. I was surprised to see that I've sold this item 2 days ago: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015MF8O0 not because of the price but because of the product. I've has Plasma TVs sold for 2-3k range, but a storage shed is definetely something you don't expect to be bought in a 24h time :)
 
Also the difference is traffic - when I had autoblogs - sure I sold non - related stuff but no-where near what I sell now .. that's because overally the sites attract more people ready to buy - you just need to provide the encouragement so to speak to get them to amazon to buy ... and let them end up deciding what to spent their money on.
 
Danny what is the criteria that you use to select the product niche and how do you analyze the competition . do you use any tool for competition analyze and how do you find good domain name do you just go for generic domain name or EMD that have search volume and low competition
 
Like most people I have software to analyze competition - Keyword Squire is what I have been using lately... nothing magical about it though.... you can use any free or paid tool you like.

Domain Name as I said before - I have a certain trick I use for that - that works well for me - which I won't disclose .. develop your own "secret sauce"

Overall I am really unsure why it would be hard to choose a niche - Amazon sells every product under the sun.
