The Ultimate Amazon Thread Mark 2 - Q/A - Good/Bad

I agree with WhitePassions and thats how I do it .... I never use "-" and only use .com

I'm sure it may work the other way - but its bit of a gamble to me.

PLR means they may sell 100 of the same review - so you have to rewrite it to have something remotely unique -- but I suggest everyone take a look at one PLR review - because normally the writers are really good and experienced as to what sells and how to write properly -- so I want to know that sort of information - so I can learn from it.

up to you really.

Cheers for the quick reply.
Only one thing I disagree with you regarding the domain thing.
.net and .org and perfectly usable as well. I'd rather use a .net if the .com is taken than having to do niche research all over or adding something to the domain..

Oh and your threads have helped me a lot, buying a new amazon domain today and making a small journey thread with it. Hope to help at least one person with it, I know this type of threads are what help me most.. I've read oh so many journeys, journals and q/a's.. It's sickening :D

yes its definately a valid point and its no trouble to try and see how it goes

I really have this down to an art form now - so I go with what I know works - and even I dumped a few sites recently - so not every site works out .. it's just a fact.

.. and for those with sites - let us know how they go -- Amazon is a HUGE Player in Online these days - billions and billions of dollars.. it can't get saturated and they are always in the news .. so even small things can be important to make your site better.

when u say basic SEO, what do u mean, can you give a little more detail? like how many backlinks are u building, how many tiers, how fast and how much do u increase the links built per day. thanks!

rather than me speak to myself how about we do it this way ?

* what do you know about Seo now ? (beginner/intermediate/advanced ??)
* what seo tools have you got access too ?
* have you ever had a website before and ranked it on Page 1 ?
* have you actually got an Amazon website built at this stage ready to go ?

1. i would consider myself a maybe a beginner heading into intermediate.
2. for seo im currently using GSA, some captcha solver and some indexer.
3. yes, but it took me about 4 month to do it and im barely on page 1 for my main keyword(maybe its a moderate to hard keyword to rank for or im doing it too conservatively). that is also the reason im asking this question.
4. yes the 4 month site is an amazon affiliate site that i started doing inspired by ur last post. this site is making $40 so far this month, and im about to upscale.

Accord to you you started seeing stable income at around 2 month mark, so i wonder if my seo strategy is too slow or something, so i am here for your advise and see if i can shorten that period for my new sites. much thanks!

I am assuming alot from your post so if I am wrong let me know .. so I can modify.

My seo start guide month 1-3 consisted of Press Releases / Social Bookmarks / Article Submission / Social Profiles and PDF Submissions (basically)

This assumed you had 5-8 pieces of Unique Content on your site to start.

After that (month 4+) I said to move to a Web 2 Strategy which you can design yourself according to the more common principles that are found all over BHW... or do manually if you liked.

GSA I took the trial and pointed out in my thread that I thought the quality was just too low - and better to use other softwares than that one. (this is just my opinion though - and certainly for tier 2 or 3 you could go with it for that)

It just seems to me - using GSA pointed at your money site was not really the best way to start .. when there are safer / probably more effective ways to go.

How many sale u get before u say the site is profitable?

Does it matter if the site is ranked n getting sale compare to not ranking at all n still getting sale?

Well I figure a WP Site is about $100 investment - Logo/Theme/Articles-Reviews/Social Account Creation/Images/Domain
Magento Site or FSB Site is about $200 investment

then you have your monthly costs : Hosting / Seo / Any Outsourcing

Additional Costs - any extra articles you buy for successful sites

Obviously alot of those costs are spread out between all sites and some are site specific - and your actual outlays maybe lower if you do more yourself .. but I'm just using what I think is reasonable.

How fast you make that back depends on the price of the products on your Site and how quickly you rank.

This is based on Seo -- if your marketing your Site another way well I can't know what the numbers would look like ...... I think this is the question you were asking .. not 100% sure.

OK here is an example article from Natasha Nixon's BST Thread .... I did not pay for this ... Natasha agreed to provide the article/review for this thread ... if you have any questions on it - you can just PM her and she will assist you.

I purposely chose this because we all know something about it - $580 on Amazon Adobe Photoshop CS6

"Adobe Photoshop CS6 Review

Adobe Photoshop has become widely known as one of the highest quality photography software packages available on the market today. Millions of people have collectively paid billions of dollars around the world for this software because of the fact that it is truly a revolutionary software package that completely outshines all of its competitors and has evolved into a necessary addition to any software library.

With each update that has been released over time, Adobe seems to be better and better at creating an even more impressive package than its predecessor. Photoshop CS6 does not disappoint, because it has effectively continued that trend and raised the bar of expectation even higher for any future upgrades. How so? What are some of the key features that are appreciated and admired about Adobe Photoshop CS6?

The Power of the Content-Aware Patch

One of the key features of Adobe Photoshop CS6 is the integrated content-aware patch, because it provides users with a stronger sense of control by allowing them to be able to select the sample area that they will use in order to create any patches that are necessary for their projects. If you are a beginner when it comes to using the advanced features of this program, then you more than likely may not be familiar with just how great this is but those that are experienced are fully aware that the content-aware patch plays an integral role in their work.

The Value of 64-Bit Support and Graphic Engine

Unlike many of the other competing photo-editing software packages that are currently available, Adobe Photoshop CS6 does support 64-bit coloring and graphic images to give you an enhanced sense of quality that is hard to find anywhere else. Past fans of older versions of this software will truly enjoy the power and efficiency of the newly installed Mercury Graphics Engine within Adobe Photoshop CS6 because it allows you to skyrocket through your editing jobs at warp speed. What used to take hours and even days to complete in previous versions can now be completed within seconds and even minutes because of the speed that is provided through this new graphic engine.

High Quality Video Editing Features

If you thought that Adobe Photoshop was only good for digital images and photographs, then Photoshop CS6 will completely blow your mind and allow you to realize just wrong you were about it. This new version allows users to edit quality video footage as well as their digital images. You can treat each frame of a high quality video just as you would with any high quality image; Adobe even provides you with an arsenal of the same tools to edit your video clips that it does for your photographic images. You can use this set of tools to truly generate an amazing level of quality and appeal within both photos and videos - a benefit that cannot be enjoyed by many of the other photo-editing software packages that are currently available.

There truly is no question, then, that Adobe Photoshop CS6 is a must-have software package that you should invest in for your home software library"

I would appreciate it if readers of the thread at least - gave her some thanks or rep. for being so kind.
Hope this helps some people .... cheers.

Not only will I thank and rep her, but it seems like she has a new client.
Welcome to my project Natasha :)

I'm not sure on OPs stance regarding this topic but in my opinion hyphen domains should be avoided at all costs.
I save some blog post about this topic on seomoz I believe and it really made me realize that most hyphened domains are extremely spammy.
Name one popular site with a hyphen ?

When EMDs are taken I usually add an extra word or a letter, such as an X before the keyword, s in the end or an extra niche related word..

Very good points..

Being able to effectively add words before or after keywords, opens up an entire new world of opportunity. I only recently discovered that some high ranking sites have "HQ" at the end, which is smart because it can stand for both "Head Quarters" and "High Quality" so it even makes sense... Like Pat Flynn took securityguardtraininghq dot com because the other one one was taken.

Just to clarify, do you also find it effective to add just a letter right in front of a keyword? Like "xbestcablereviews, com - is that essentially the same as doing "bestcablereviewsx, com"?

I saw a high ranking site doing 1keyword,com the other day and I thought it looked terrible, but hey if search engines don't care, and visitors don't care, it's all good to me :)

Its Press Releases a must?

Does it bring in any sale or traffic?

I have done most of the basic SEO u mentioned beside Press Releases

whats the benefits?

Having the keyword in the domain can help, but will not offer the same benefits as an EMD.

If you think of it from the users' perspective, meaningful suffixes sometimes tend to read better (e.g. for keyword 'cable review', possible domains: cablereviewtoday or cablereviewstoday). Think about whether a user trust a website url with 'x' infront of it. Also, I'd limit the number of words in the domain to three or less. Shorter names are more memorable.

EMD's with good content can still work well, but remember that Gxxgle has recently devalued the weighting that EMD's previously had, so if you are considering building a larger site (instead of min-sites) than a brand name may be a better option.

Thank you Danny for this awesome thread! It has encouraged me to take action and make amazon products review site!

Press Releases are good and I recommend them .. especially ones that get Syndicated.

Do you use a plugin to set up the privacy policy that amazon demands or how do you do it ?
Thanks

Appreciate the imput, adding "today" is actually a very good idea since it also implies that it's an active site with plenty of fresh content.

Regarding making shorter memorable names, I see your point, however I think times are changing, and nowadays peoples browser remember everyhing, so if someone want to find my site again, they could either just bookmark it or write the first letter on the address bar and then the rest will appear automatically. Perhaps I'm mistaken, I guess I shouldn't assume that everyone does that, but I can't remember the last time I had to type in the exact name of a site I visited within the last 30 days..

That said, if I'm going for the BIG money on one huge website, I completely agree that a brandable name would be better for that!
