The September 2022 core update (Here We Go Again!)

That is exactly what I am seeing. Some posts gone from top to nowhere, other still ranking. And the SERPs for queries where my site is gone are crap. Sometimes I see spun version of my article ranking in top 10 while my article is gone.
My client has 22 million links are being outranked in their own city by sites with 8 links.

Might want to talk about that Budget SOONER rather than LATER, im just saying....Q-

Google has been issuing tons of updates.

It's getting really confusing.

I can see so many people are struggling to keep up, much less make sense of all the rapid-fire updates.

With that said, I truly believe, based on the performance of my sites, that if you focus on search intent and you format and interlink your content in a way that truly helps your readers, you don't have to worry about anything.

You have to understand that Google's customers are not publishers.

This has always been the case.

You and I are not their customers.

Their customers are people who use Google, and Google wants these people to have a clear, smooth, and value-filled experience.

So if you use those values as the guiding principles of your content, your site navigation, and your online brand formation, you should be fine.

I know this is not a popular opinion because we're on this forum looking for shortcuts and the latest and greatest ways to "beat Google."

But Google is already clear as to what they're looking for.

If you follow their guidelines, you end up being their publishing partner.

I know that's not a popular opinion to hold, but it has paid off for me, at least when it comes to my latest projects so far.

I got an Amazon affiliate website which got hit in November 2021 and got hit again in July this year. Lost 90 percent of the trafiic so far.

Did anyone see any improvements and what did you do?

Also, what intrigues me is that what websites is G ranking instead of our websites cuz I see a loooot of websites got hit. Are their enough good websites to replace ours!?

Seo roundtable is saying YouTube got hit the worst which is owned by Google. I suspect this one will be rolled backed. My client went from number 1 and 2 to Gone, then back to number 10 for a few hours then gone . Websites from other countries are now ranking on page one. Total cluster f@uck. SERPS are all screwed up in my sector.

This latest update is weird and I don't fully understand it yet. I run two websites offering digital products. One old website not being updated for years but with a lot of diverse content. 90% auto generated. The other wesbite heavily Google and user optimized and all content manually written by professionals. Still the latter dropped massively from 5000 to 500 visitors. The weird thing is that both websites also have their own Pinterest accounts where I see exactly the same difference. One Pinterest account zero change in daily post views and the other dropping to almost 0. It seems that Google not only drops the traffic on the website itself but also on related social accounts once identified as not helpfull. Anybody else seeing similar trends?

I've been trying to make sense of this update for some time since it came out, my website dropped in ranking by 1-5. These were also for very high competition keywords.
From what i can gather the update seems to favour websites with high authority or brand dominance.

The website\page doesn't even have good technical SEO, i have had a website rank higher than me with nothing in their technical SEO being in place, the only reason i could see for the website ranking higher was them having good backlinks, and possibly due to their brand image.
This update also seems to have given pages that are in a high authority website a boost, pages in high authority websites seems to now rank higher. They don't even need proper content or any technical SEO as long as their domain has high authority.

In other words this update doesn't seem to care much for content or technical SEO but rather backlinks and authority, this doesn't mean that having shit ton of crap links will help. It obviously needs to be decent quality backlinks.

Thanks for the observations. I noticed one other thing too:

Looking at top3 in my niche (software dev services), Google started to care more about particular entities located on a page like phone number, address, author (for blog posts) etc. One of my websites lost a lot of positions during the update because (in my opinion) it didn't have some common entities mentioned above. I didn't care about having these entities before because the website was ranking without them perfectly well.

Please let me know if you guys noticed something similar in your niche.

We are currently testing if indeed adding a phone number, address, and author but also offering chat support increases the website's helpfulness. We talked with a 3rd party SEO agency. They told us it should have not so much impact but we question this. I will keep you updated. We also started to add sources (.edu/.gov) for any facts provided on the website. Both linking internally and externally in a similar way as Wikipedia does. Crossing my fingers. The last 2 years already have been a rollercoaster..Moving to AMP. After the Core update moving away from AMP because the performance was bad. Getting all scores to A+ and now getting content up standard to Google cryptic useful content standard. Any tips are welcome. PM me if you want more details about the websites and the analytics we already have done.

Have you changed anything on your website? Have you seen any positive impacts yet?
I lost around 30% of traffic after Sep 13. worked on e-a-t and currently just waiting. No movements yet but hoping to regain positions after todays volatility in Google.

Any Changes now?
Nope still TOAST, the site will go from page 7 to page 1 for one day then drop back to page 5 page 6, I have no clue. The Keyword is CBD wholesale. I am seeing sites in Europe on Page 1 shouldn't even be there. this site break down all the winners and losers. guess which site hot hit the hardest??? YOUTUBE, there own god dam brand. They just screwed themselves out of billions of dollars in ad revenue. I suspect they will have to roll this BS back sooner or later. https://www.amsivedigital.com/insights/seo/winners-losers-of-the-september-2022-core-update-product-reviews-update/

You made any changes? Has the traffic been dropped like 90% from the previous updates?

Haven't touched the website since it happened (in terms of content).

The only thing I started doing is improving CWV. Since 23.09, all turned to "Poor" (red lines) and the site was loading super slow mostly due to Ezoic ads and Elementor. I got both to fuck (just a few landing pages to go now) and the site is loading super fast but I doubt that's behind the recovery.

Look, the same thing happened to my site at the end of June:

Not sure why I'm being targeted with this crap but the good news is, the graph should go up again tomorrow as most of the keywords got back to their regular positions.
