It's maybe a bit of a stretch in terms of original niche but you could sort of rebrand into a general neighborhood site then you can think about a directory site or something and do lead gen etc. classifieds, jobs, etc. etc. discounts etc.

Not thought about citations yet tbh so I don't have a great answer for you right now.

For niches like home services, it's pretty straightforward. Pick a decent brandable name and build out citations like normal. I'm building a site that's formatted similar to how national franchises do business. An example:

brandable name (probably a business name already, can't be bothered to check): Superior Siding

Location page (San Diego)

NAP: Superior Siding of San Diego

Each new location gets a new address and phone number.

Examples:

  • Molly Maid
  • Merry Maids
  • Mr. Electric
Look at their location pages and citations, etc.; this is how they do it. I don't like reinventing the wheel. If it works for them, it should work for anyone.

Awesome advice here. I have a GMB that's named *City* *Service* and it seems hard to rank, especially in Google Maps (I have the EMD that's a bit easier to rank in organic). But what Holzr suggests seems like the best way to do it.
 
Hi all,

Nothing done to the site as I've been busy with other things, not done much IM in general tbh. Not bad results so far, I have another site I need to get up ASAP then I'll likely pay attention to this one. See what I can do with it. Really not bad results for such a meh site lol.

SERP ROBOT for tracking along with Google Search Console. For keyword research a combination of traditional tools (Ahrefs), Google search/autosuggest/autocomplete etc. The value is in the latter since it can discover keywords most tools won't. This is especially useful for these style keywords with low volume as most tools won't pick them up but they can of course be very profitable.

I've not been active or doing much IM this month at all, but I'm slowly getting back into it.

I have a new tool I'm testing out that I'm looking forward to exploring. It should allow me to test keyword competition in a matter of minutes to a couple of days at most. I should have actionable data on how easy it'll be to rank. Once I've played around with it a bit, I'll share my results and maybe do a separate thread. I have no affiliation with this tool, but it looks pretty cool. It is also used for link building and ranking the map pack.

I can test keywords in bulk with ease, which will be good since this is what I like doing. I got a lot of cool keywords lined up.
 
Did you create a google business page for this? And treating it as a local business? I've thought about doing this but I'm worried about legal action as I'm not a realtor. I mean I think I will be fine as long as I don't say I am but still worried about putting a ton of work in and having a cease and desist letter coming in and shut the whole thing down. I would be cool if I could rank this in one area, then put a legit real estate site in another area and rank that one.

I'm looking to get into real estate, I found a 12 year old real estate website I've had up for 12 years with five pages of content on it lol. What I found on my hard drive was content I had someone here write 12 years ago. So I now have 80 pages of content on the site as of six weeks ago. It's about things to do, neighbourhood, demographics, etc. It's pretty funny because it's all from 10-12 years ago. Talks about housing prices in some areas for $200,000, which today they are are $400,000 :D.

My concern as I watch google index my pages that even though some content is 1000+ words, some of it is around 500 words, and I fear Google is seeing it as low quality content and won't index it and if they do it won't rank. I'm getting some clicks and a lot of impressions but a long way to go. I need to build some links. I want this to be a grey hat site and I'm thinking about creating a legit real estate website and driving the traffic there.

Second/Third are you just doing blog posts or are these 'main pages' off the main site? If I add these I thought maybe doing it as blog posts for the site.

I also recently registered homesforsalecity.com for my city, which I can't believe was available. It has 60k+ search volume. But I don't know how to use that yet.

Hi all,

Not really done any IM past few months as I've had some other things going on in life. Site ranks are gone (still indexed though), having said that I knew something like this might happen and my original goal was met, getting solid data. I've been testing a method to confirm low competition keywords which is working well. Now I have this data when I get some time I plan on actually making a long term white hat site going forward. Run some test sites with AI content, hook up to GSC, get data, use that data to help plan the white hat site. There's good potential in this space.
