Yeah a weird title for a thread but there is value for sellers, whether you sell here, sell on your on site, sell on whatever platform.

10 - Someone casually asks about what you offer... we all get that in droves and it usually is just someone kicking tires. All good as you want people on your car lot looking even if they are not going to give you their CC number, pay cash or get financing to purchase.

Acknowledge them, let them know you are around but don't push the sale. It's a little like PR or ORM but an interaction on a low level is important.

Someone shows up your site, it is, "Thanks for visiting". That is a handshake and all that you should do 90% of the time.

5 - You act (and it should not be an act or you need customer service lessons) that they are welcome and you are glad they are here and offer them a platter of variances of your offers. Don't be pushy, be offering and that is a huge difference. It may take you a few minutes to understand and operate like that but that is money.

2 - Make the interaction personal because people buy from people and not from stores. You need to let them know your vision is to help them, not sell them. Selling is an easy way out in our industry and often ends up with a "No Sale" in your cash register. I can outsell 99% of the people I know but selling is not get the cash, stick the product in a bag and send them out of the door.

More often than not, if you start at 10 with a prospect, follow the steps I shared, you are going to get yourself a client.

Soft selling is money, and this is a process that you would be well served putting in play,

It can be interpret in many ways and has to be matched to an offer and audience.

Anyone has an example or a page that does that well?

I found these sentences.

"Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. I'm Sam, one of the account managers here. How can I help you today?"
"From what I could gather, you're looking for some marketing services for your business. Me with my team actually have a few different packages that could be a good fit depending on your needs and budget. Want me to quickly go over the main options?"
"Okay, so it seems like our Professional Marketing Bundle is catching your eye based on the features I mentioned. Does that sound like it's aligning with what you had in mind so far, or did you want to discuss the other choices as well?"
"That's great you're interested in the Professional Bundle. But before I give you all the details, I'd love to first learn a bit more about your company's mission, goals, marketing approach and any particular challenges you're facing. That way I can ensure it's the perfect solution for your needs."
"Thanks for sharing more context around your situation. Based on what you described about wanting a unified marketing tech stack, better lead nurturing, and detailed analytics, the Professional Bundle really does sound like the ideal fit. How would you like to proceed - should I get you set up with a free 14-day trial so you can explore it further?"

That's also a great way to find scammers if someone is being too pushy, offering crazy discounts or making unrealistic promises then expect to get scammed.

There's a way for scammers to operate and talk and you'll understand how to find them with experience but usually someone who is too pushy is trying to scam you.

Yeah, I had read a book on manipulating customers using psychology and NLP analogies. My head was swollen like a balloon after reading that.

Would not recommend doing anything other than genuine relationships for long term gains.

Even if you're quick and work short term, there is still area to build genuine connection.

And instead of manipulating people and feeling scarce about "not having manipulative practices" and "pushy sales", think about being fearless.

Yes

I never urge my customers to pay. If I cannot deliver my products today, I will ask them to pay tomorrow

We will have good communication. If you keep urging me to pay, I think it is most likely that a scammer would do that.

People forget they are not in the business of making money from their customer's perspective, but all their customers and clients see and expect is customer service. Thats what business we are all in. Providers of good customer service.

This is a useful reminder. It helps greatly to focus on the people's need not on the product you want to sell

Great advice! Maruti Suzuki follows the same approach with their sales teams in India, which is a key reason their cars consistently rank among the top 10 best-sellers, despite concerns about build quality and heavy negative PR from competitors. They never judge a customer by appearance. Whether you seem ready to buy or not, they welcome you like you're someone rich. My experience at Tata and Mahindra showrooms was completely different and I felt like I stepped into a dumpster where I felt disgusted by how rude the staff is. But at Maruti Suzuki, they treated me like I’d already made a purchase! I ended up buying their vehicle and it was worth it.
