Telegram marketing pyramid scheme

Me and my colleague did an experiment last week with creating a marketing pyramid funnel in TG. We get people to join our team for making money, but in order to join they have to subscribe to our sponsors. So it's like a referral program. We then use people who joined our team to spam TikTok/Threads to get new people to join/subscribe to our sponsors. We pay our workers $1 per sub, while our sponsors pay us $0.3-$0.8 per sub (we had 5). The issue is that after we grew our funnel to 350 people, sponsors decided that the traffic quality was low and didn't pay us anything at the end.

Has anyone tried something similar and was it actually profitable?

Its called multi level marketing a successful example is amway.
Anyways you need to ask your sponsors to tell you geo to target anything else they want to target.
You and your subscribers are getting low quality leads that's a targetting issue.

Thanks, how do you usually define quality in this case, retention, deposits, or activity?

You are approaching it the wrong way. You are getting leads and trying to pass the quality check. You need to forget about the money you earn to start with. Then like I said talk to your sponsors about targeting.
