Technical SEO question: redirect one domain to another (no matching within URLs)

Hi, I am in the process of redirecting one domain to another, but I have some doubts, that maybe some of you can help solve.

A bit little of context: the domain that is going to be redirected is a old one (11 years old) and even if the niche are similar, it is not possible to match URLs from one domain to another, so I am going to redirect all the URLs of domain#1 to the home page of domain#2.

My doubt is: will Google see this as a soft 404 or something similar or am I ok with redirecting all the URLs (about 2000) of domain#1 to the home page of domain#2 using 301 redirects?

why dont't you figure out which of the pages on the old domain have major backlinks and then only forward those pages to appropriate pages on your new domain?

of the mentioned 2000 pages, I think only a handful are powerful.
 
How many pages from 2000 are already indexed in Google? Have you built links on these URLs? If yes, then the best(not so convincing) options is to create equivalent pages for each URL and then redirect.

In case these pages are not indexed in Google, you can 2000 URLs on homepage without any issue.

Thank for your reply, this is a good idea. Actually only a few ones (home pages and some category pages) have decent links I may want to keep.

So, if I just redirect those pages what do you suggest to do with the rest or URLs? Just leave them as 404 until, eventually, Google will de-index them?

Hi, thank you for your reply. Well, basically all of those URLs are indexed, but making an equivalent on the target site is not an option. Anyway, even if the site has 2000 URLs, only a few of them are actually worthy (because of the links I've created to them during the years).
 
Can I see the list of cryptocurrencies that you exchange?
