Hi,

This is an off-shoot from my "$100k -- Did you accomplish your 2013 goals?" thread.

I have a lot of actionable stuff to share and want to start a blog or website where I can start dumping all my experience and knowledge into.


What kind of wordpress theme do you recommend I use for that?


And what kind of plugins do you recommend? Especially for email capture?

OP can't put together a WordPress? Just use the blog option on BHW then ;).
 
Not trying to be a dick, but ... Is it now we're supposed the PM you about your method so you can sell us something?

If you are serious: I use Genesis with various child themes, along with the eNews plugin and Aweber for email capturing. The theme is good for SEO, looks decent, and it has tons of options for customization. The plugin works on any platform (Aweber, Mailchimp, your own ..) -- It's just a form for your sidebar -- except it looks fucking hot compared to the default stuff from Aweber ...

Op, I do not mean to sound rude but. If a method makes you 100k then why in the world would you share it. Also I do not believe for one second that you made 100k without knowing how to do basic wordpress stuff. I am not calling you a liar I am just saying that this is a little hard to swallow. Being able to do wordpress is not a prerequisite of earning over $100k. BHW members are so narrow minded.

I remind you that you yourself are a "narrow minded" BHW member. Sure, Wordpress isn't a requirement for banking so much online, but it's natural to be skeptical about such a huge profit, but not being able to use something that most sites on the web is run on. It's like a toddler beating a chess grandmaster. Pretty amazing, but hard to believe.
 
it's very possible to make 100k without wordpress knowledge in-infact it's more than possible there are people out their making millions with just email and Alibaba doing Liquidation

The bit of joking aside, the adsense guide in my sig has a lot of quality plugins you may want to take a look at as well as an opt in form I have been using for a while that is working great for me!

talk about a crowd of pessimist. This is like a blackhat version of warrior forum.
When it comes to wordpress, I've only used one theme -- profit theme, for my launches.

however I want to get away of launches ( my main income source) and actually " create my own niche" and build a following.

i understand the pessimism, I too have lived the those threads where persons slowly introduce their expertise into the forum just to build a buzz to sell stuff later on.

Frankly, the "blackhat forum" method of short lived authority and short lived sales boost can nowhere near match the level of not-so-slow income that comes from product launches.

im looking for a real business here people, not a richard-driver-esque money grab.

if i can combine the influx-profits that come from launches and the long term authority and list building from having awe site and social presence, then the $1,000,000 goal will be child's play.

i actually remember seeing the Genesis theme used on Kenny cann site before he took it down, it will be a good start to check on.

i know I'm not the only one who wants to build a great website for a fan base.
 
You all assume that he should know how to use Wordpress JUST because he made $100k in a year.

You barely even know if it was off of tangible items in stores.

Stop being so judgmental because he is new. Don't expect every person to know "Wordpress" just because he has money.


OP, if you are going for a blog posts style, I personally use Explosion by Color Theme. It's currently on my blog now, but had to do several tweaks to make it perform correctly. You can view it here: http://travisingram.net/ You can change the colors and stuff. I got the theme on themeforest. It also already comes with a contact form that is decently built.
