An ever increasing amount of clients are looking for ways in which to beat out a negative free wordpress.com blog (or other free platform) from the first page of the results. In many cases the free WP blog is aimed at the brand name.

I am looking for inspiration in order to accomplish this. The way I see it there are two principle methods;

1. Create a load of web 2.0 properties with some additional link building to the making use of the brand name to crowd out the site in question to the 2nd page

2. Make use of automated backlinking to the negative site in order to bring it down (I am thinking AMR blasts, SB Xrummer etc).

Are there any other methods which you have found worked well to bring down the results a WP sub domain specifically?

Cheers.

Do a big, really obvious spam campaign on their subdomain and then complain (possibly multiple times from multiple email addresses) to wordpress.com about how this evil spammer spammed your site repeatedly. The wordpress.com people are a bunch of militant antispam pricks and chances are they'll take the subdomain down promptly.

The key is complaining, because just doing aggressive link building on a site on a trusted host like wordpress.com is more likely to help the people you want to nail rather than get them banned.

Thanks for your input Autumn although I don't quite understand your direction..

You are saying; start an obvious spamm campaign to the negative site and then complaining to wordpress.com that they are spamming your site?

I think Autumn is saying doing a crazy amount of spamming, include one of your own blogs or 2,in other words place the spam links aimed at your issue site on one or 2 of your own(this gives you a valid reason to complain!) and you have proof.

Then report to wordpress, use keyword related spam as well.e.g xxxx brand reviews here as anchortext for links to the issue site.If you just use abuse words it could appear a deliverate attack, which it is but you don't want it to look like that.

hopethat helps.

Yep cloakndagger pretty much nailed it. wordpress.com is hard on spam and generally quick to take stuff down. They are so quick to take stuff down that I don't even bother to try to put up splogs there because they all just get deleted. It would be best if you can spam several of your own properties (that appear unrelated) and then email the wp.com people as if you were multiple irate webmasters bitching about getting spammed.

Even better is if you can do such blatant and offensive spam that you motivate other people to complain about it too eg. find some anti spam blogs and hammer them repeatedly with the most retarded comment spam you can think of, or go and repeatedly deface a popular wiki.

However I would be wary of using "brand xxx reviews" as the anchor text just in case you don't manage to get the negative site banned - if you give them good anchor text but they don't get banned by wp.com, you could just end up cementing their rankings. I would use something more neutral like negativesite.wordpress.com as your anchor.

This also gives you a good footprint to show in your spam report eg. you say "Look at this spamming motherfucker hammering the web with his shit, just look at all the sites he's spammed at http://www.google.com/search?q="negativesite.wordpress.com"

Thanks Autumn - your suggestions are really useful. I was cautious about the spamming the WP.com site given this can easily backfire in terms of cementing their postion.

I have a large number of WP blogs of my own which are crammed full of the 'most retarded comment spam you can think of' in the spamm queue which will do nicely!

Cheers + rep given.
