Have an 11 year old site that for the last 10 years has ranked #1-5 for our all our keywords.
I made the switch to HTTPS since I read that Google was going to favor secure sites of non-secure.
Since I did that the site has completely fallen apart as all backlinks over the last 10 years were to the HTTP version not the new HTTPS version.
I submitted a new Sitemap, using webmaster tools to get Googlebot to fetch.
Site is slowly starting to come back in the SERPS but I'm afraid I can ever get our solid top first page rankings back.
Any ideas or suggestions about what to do when switching a site from HTTP to HTTPS as to not screw up rankings?
Please help
